14 Insider Tips for Touring Disney's Hollywood Studios

There have been a lot of closures happening and a lot of rumors swirling around Disney's Hollywood Studios Theme Park over the past year, but that shouldn't keep you from making the most of a fun day! This Park was built on the magic of movies and old Hollywood glamour, it's the perfect place to indulge your secret longings to be a Jedi, your love for classic animation. We've got 14 insider tips to make your day a perfect take.

  1. Visit early in the week, while most people are rushing through Magic and Animal Kingdoms.

  2. The Disney Studios Tip Board, located at the corner of Sunset and Hollywood Boulevard, posts daily show times and updated wait times.

  3. Use your FastPass+ options at this Park! Toy Story Midway Mania, Hollywood Tower of Terror or Rockin' Rollercoaster, and Star Tours are where you'll fight crowds and make a great place to start.

  4. If the posted wait time on Tower or Terror is 13 Minutes, it means there is really no wait! When entering the Tower of Terror library, move to the opposite end of the room. This will allow you to be first ones to leave after preshow.

  6. Adjustable eyeglass holders are indispensable if you're a roller coaster fan. Be sure to pick up a pair before you leave home and you'll be able to see while riding the thrill rides!

  7. If you love drawing and dream of being an animator, stop by the 15 - 30 minute drawing class in 'The Magic of Disney Animation' for serious artists you may want to bring along your own pencil.

  8. Do you love hidden attractions? Try to find the "Singing in the Rain" umbrella that is attached to one of the streetlights near the old Hunchback theater. Take hold of the umbrella and step on the black square for a fun surprise!

  9. At the entrance to the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular you will find a well, by pulling on the rope, you'll be able to hear someone talking down inside. Keep your eyes open for original props from the movie such as the Tank!

  11. There are two versions of the Great Movie Ride, the Cowboy version is run only during the peak times. If you would like to see the Cowboy hijacking on the Great Movie Ride? Just ask the Cast Member when you get to the loading area for the cowboy scene if it's running.

  12. Fantasmic! only runs on certain nights during the year. You can get the schedule in advance at your hotel if you are staying at a Disney resort, or look it up online before leaving home.

  13. Be at the Fantastic! Amphitheater at least an hour before show time is scheduled. Grab fast food from the stands on Sunset, and have a picnic while you wait in line for Fantasmic! It makes the time go much faster.

  16. Freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies and other baked goods at Starring Rolls Cafe, at the corner of Hollywood and Sunset are a great way to fill your tummy. But you can also find delicious treats like the famous Carrot Cake Cookie at The Writers Stop, and it's open late.

  17. You can find Characters on a rotating schedule inside The Animation Building. If you don't want to walk through the whole attraction, simply walk through the store to the character-greeting area. Check the MyDisneyExperience App to know who will be out next.
