Baby Mandrill Arrives at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Disney's Animal Kingdom recently welcomed a newborn to the troop of Mandrills that resides on the Kilimanjaro Safari. Mandrills are members of he primate family that are known for their olive green or dark grey pelage with yellow and black bands and a white bellies. Their hairless faces with a colorful elongated muzzle are distinctive and inspired the look for the mystical Rafiki in Disney's The Lion King.

According to Disney Parks Blog the "little girl was born on Saturday, April 10, to first-time mom Hazel and dad Linus. Cast members named the infant Ivy to fit in with the rest of her colorful family " Olive, Scarlett, Snow and Hazel."





Guests have already spotted baby Ivy on safari clinging to her mom, but in weeks to come she's sure to be spotted walking around on her own nearby. Be sure to let us know if you catch of glimpse of this adorable new addition at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
