Disney Updates My Disney Experience to Allow Guests to Opt-Out of Additional MagicBands

If you're a frequent visitor to the Walt Disney World Resort it's possible that you have a lot of used MagicBands cluttering your junk drawer. Or maybe you've found a creative way to re-purpose them in some crafty form.

How many MagicBands have you collected? How many MagicBands have you collected?

Each time you book a Walt Disney World Resort vacation the MagicBands are automatically sent as part of your hotel reservation. But now Disney is giving guests the choice to "opt-out" of receiving additional MagicBands.

This means that guests who are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel can choose to not receive a new MagicBand provided they have an existing and usable MagicBand on their My Disney Experience account.

The MagicBands must be less than a year old since the batteries in the Bands aren't replaceable and the lifespan is limited.

This is only an option and you can always change your mind and decide to get a new MagicBand too. The opt-out choice is only available on the My Disney Experience website but is not currently available on the My Disney Experience phone apps.

Will you be opting out of getting a new MagicBand for your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation? Let us know in the comments.

The NFC still works when the battery dies. Strange they really NEED you to have the ranged radio working...

Reservation agents at wdw can also put a hold on magic bands as well. You simply have to ask.

I am so glad this has finally happened. I have at least two of every color including gray. This will be a money saver and maybe they won't have to raise rates as much (yeah, right).

PS, what kind of clever crafts can you make with them???

I love getting multiples because I don't leave mine plain. Nail polish works great as long as you give the polish time to fully dry between each coat & that you put several layers of clear top coat over the painted area. You can do designs (I did Darth Maul's face tattoo on a red band for Star Wars events.) or paint the whole thing one fancy color. (For those who want a purple band.) The one I'm wearing for my Birthday sparkles, changes color in the sun, & glows in the dark.

I love having many options so I can match my band to whatever I'm wearing that day.
