Disney's Polynesian Village Resort Rooms To Get A Moana Makeover

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is one of the three original resort hotels at Walt Disney World. There have been struggles for this grand old lady as she has tried to grow old gracefully despite needing some serious construction updates over the past decade. That's why we weren't too surprised to hear that Disney's taking advantage of the COVID-19 closures to give the very popular Polynesian Village a little more TLC.

Disney recently announced that it would be delaying the full reopening of Disney's Polynesian Village Resort from October 4, 2020 until Summer 2021. While the DVC Rooms, Kona Cafe, and Capt. Cook's are open, the regular guest rooms and 'Ohana will remain closed for refurbishment.

A Disney spokeswoman told the Orlando Sentinel that future guests can expect to see changes in the rooms to reflect "a Pacific Ocean-inspired color palette as well as details, patterns and textures from Disney's Moana."

Our friends over at the Disney Food Blog also offered this piece of information regarding changes going on over at the Polynesian Village. The entire Monorail station will soon be closing. "Beginning in October of this year, the Monorail station at the Polynesian will be closed." The DVC Website explained that this is to facilitate some construction happening at the Great Ceremonial House and will be a temporary suspension of monorail service at the resort. Guests staying at Disney's Polynesian Resort Villas and Bungalows will have access to Magic Kingdom Bus Service or can walk over to the TTC for boat or monorail service to the Magic Kingdom.
