Before You Go

If you want to spend your days in the Disney Parks you now need to prioritize purchasing your Park Tickets and making Theme Park Reservations. During reduced capacity protocols guests need to make a Reservation just to get into the Parks. As soon as you know you'll be making the trip buy your Theme Park Admission and reserve your spot for the day.

Advance Dining Reservations that used to be made at 180-days are now at a 60-day booking window with fewer tables available during each seating. Make the most of your time and book your dining reservations in the Park you will be attending on a given day.

Splurge and buy the travel insurance because the fact is that no one knows what the future will bring. The world is more uncertain now than ever before and protecting your vacation investment is a smart move.

Be mask minded. Walt Disney World has some very strict face mask policies that you should be aware of before you leave. Be sure to pack multiple masks to use during your trip, changing them out during the day helps to keep you feeling fresh after yours becomes wet from rain, rides, and sweat.

En Route

Travel companies are doing their best to maintain safety protocols, but all travel comes with a risk. Carry your own wet wipes and hand sanitizer to help reduce your chances of catching a virus. Wipe down surfaces you come into contact with on buses and planes. Disney ride attractions are cleaned approximately every two hours, if this isn't enough for your comfort give those safety bars a quick swipe on your own.

While Disney's Magical Express is still running, be aware that currently they are not offering baggage processing service. This means that you will have to either pick up your own luggage from baggage claim or pack into your carry-on. If you want to get through the airport making as little contact as possible with people, try packing light by using a capsule wardrobe and washing clothes during your trip.

Disney offers Direct To Room Check-in using the MyDisneyExperience App and your smartphone or MagicBand. Bypassing the check-in desk is a quick and efficient way to start your vacation while reducing your situational risk by avoiding lines.

On Property

Once on property you can still use Disney Transportation, but be aware it is running at a reduced capacity to make an effort to keep groups spaced out 6-feet apart. If you don't want to miss your reservations, be sure to allow extra travel time for getting between point A and B. You just may have to wait a little longer than expected to catch that bus.

Take advantage of options for contactlless payments by using your MagicBand, Mobile Order, or a smart application such as Apple Pay.

Maximize Your Dining experience by using Mobile Order and eating outside, or experimenting with Walk-up Dining at a table service restaurant. While you are seated at a dining table guests can relax a bit and remove their masks. DIY a progressive meal (three courses at three different restaurants) to give yourself and your crew a bit more breathing space.

Stay hydrated! Wearing a mask tends to discourage people from drinking while they tour the Parks, but getting enough water is still vitally important. Bring your own water bottle to fill up and carry along with you, drink regularly throughout the day and don't be shy about filling up again.

General Travel Health

I've written several articles over the years about staying healthy while you travel. Check out a few of the articles to make sure you make the most of your trip.

Most of all it's now more important than ever to be patient and just go with the flow. Old touring strategies may no longer work when spending the day in Disney Parks during COVID-19 protocols, but that doesn't mean you won't have a great time. This new Disney is all about shorter days, laid back meandering, and taking in the view.
