How did YOU fall in love with Disney World?

A couple months back, we posed the question "How did YOU first fall in love with Disney World?" on our Facebook fan page.

All the answers fell into a few categories: 1) as a child, 2) during honeymoons and anniversaries, 3) with your children, 4) as an adult, and 5) during other special moments.

So, withou further ado, here's how YOU fell in love with Disney World!

As a Child

"I first fell in love with Disney when I went when I was little. I re-fell in love in 2004 when I went with my husband who had never went and he realized that it wasn't just another amusement park and also with my two children. When I look at that picture on the wall I remember how we were soaked but we didn't care and how happy and carefree we were. We are going back in 26 days and the excitement is unbelievable!!" -Kellie H.

"My first trip in 82 and the Wonderful World of Disney." -Chris J.

"When I was a kid the tv show Wonderful World of Disney.......that was on after Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom......and of course visits to the parks in Florida since I was a fetus." -Buck R.

"My parents took me when I was a child, it was love at first sight." Betsy C.

"Good question.... I guess through Wonderful World of Disney and the annual Christmas parades on television. my parents couldn't afford to take me as a child so now I make sure I get to go often. this last visit ( 2 weeks ago) was my 3rd." Sarah S.

"I don't know. I loved it ever since I was a child even though my first trip wasn't until I was 16." Dana H.

During Honeymoons and Anniversaries

"When we drove up to the valet at the Grand Floridian for our Honeymoon! It was amazing. The experience then was magical and it just continued everywhere we went. It was my first trip to WDW and it was amazing. Some things have changed, but we still love it and go back almost every year (thanks to DVC!) (21 years and counting!)" Elizabeth C.

"In 2008 when my sister and I took our families and my parents for their 45th Anniversary and we walked in the gates of MK." Suzy G.

With Your Kids

"Through the eyes of my then 3 year old daughter meeting her fav princess...Ariel! PRICELESS & worth every penny!" Barbara B.

"Our first trip in 1995. The kids were young and my husband didn't know yet that he didn't really like Disney, so he actually enjoyed himself, lol. Now, there's no other place I want to vacation in." Denise G.

"I don't really remember my trip from 1978, so for me it was when my daughter saw the castle as we drove up on the bus the look of sheer delight was enough to hook me." -Neal H.

As an Adult

"My first trip was in 2008 when I was 27 years old. I have wanted to go to Disney World since I was a child, but unfortunately, my parents never had enough money for us to go on vacations. I will never forget walking in to Epcot for the first time and seeing Spaceship Earth, or "The Ball"......it was truly an awesome experience. I have visited every year since. I just went in September of this year and I have a feeling it will be a annual tradition now! I love Disney!" -Sarah F.

"I fell in love with Disney when I went the first time in Aug 2005. I had never been and really didn't know what to expect. I was amazed for sure as I 'wheeled' (had both knees replaced 4 months earlier) down Main Street and through the Castle but ... yet ... still hadn't grasped what Disney was all about. So, as I continued through the castle and into Fantasy Land I came upon the Dumbo ride. I sat there and watched this little old couple...probably at least in their late 70's precariously climb into the Dumbo ride. I thought "aw..how cute". Then, as the ride started going they started to smile, then as it went faster ... their Dumbo went up and down -- all the while they were laughing and waving at EVERYONE - with not a care in the world (okay...I'm tearing up now...lol). It was truly a magical experience for me and at that moment I KNEW what Disney was about, what Mr. Walt Disney had meant it to be ... and I have been in love with it and the ideals every since." Kathleen M.

"Our first trip in 2003. As soon as a enter MK and saw the Castle, it was just priceless. Since then, I have visited Disney every year. Cannot get enough of it!" Maria G.

Other Special Moments

"I fell in love the first time I watched the fireworks over the castle. I still look forward to that every visit." Courtney J.

"The first time I was standing in front of the Magic Kingdom..... Something came over me...hard to explain.... But a true Disney fan would understand without further explanation." Tony W.

I'll get the ball rolling with how I fell in love with Disney World: As a child, I visited Disney World three times, twice during Disney's Magic Music Days program, when a singing group I was in got to perform Beauty and the Beast on the Tomorrowland Stage. I fell in love during those visits, and as a child of the 80s, I fell in love with Disney in general during the "Disney Renaissance" of The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King. I fell in love again in 2006, when my now-husband and I visited for our birthdays (our birthdays are two days apart). We decided to honeymoon there in April 2009 and have been back two more times since. We're planning out our next sojourn to the World now!

I want to say THANK YOU for choosing my story. I am Kathleen S (which actually my last name begins with an M). I just wanted to let you know -- it is 2011, 6 1/2 yrs later and I am still just as much in love and awe of WDW and Walts ideals as I ever was, and probably more so!! I have been to WDW many times, worked @ EPCOT for a short time (best job I ever had) and also can now add The Wonder to my most favorite places to be :D.

My first trip was in 1978, I was 18 and I fell in love with the feeling that being at WDW meant it was okay to be happy and joyful. It was so safe, clean and fun. My last trip was 2010 (my 13th trip) and I still love how the feeling of happiness is still there, only bigger, with the 4 parks, the water parks. The last trip I was there with a friend who had never been and it gave me a chance to see WDW through new eyes and still love it all. I love Turtle Talk with Crush for how magic it is for children. I love the various water-play fountains that so many children get enthralled with. I love the variety of food and the thoughtfulness of it all. There is the sense when we get the the resort upon arrival of "Let the Fun Begin!"

@Kathleen -- You're welcome!! I changed your last initial for ya! I always get tripped up when we ladies hyphenate or include maiden names on Facebook. Or maybe I was just plain wrong. Ha. I am so with you, I am in awe of what Walt created every day!

@Gaylin -- Those are wonderful thoughts! I love taking a "Disney newbie" on a trip and experiencing the beginning of the love affair! It's so much fun.
