Marriott’s Purchase of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Includes Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort is included in Marriott's recent deal to acquire Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. The Swan and Dolphin are two of the 10 Starwood-managed properties in Orlando.

Starwood manages the Swan and Dolphin but does not own the property. The 2,267 room resort is considered a convention hotel. It's also one of the few non-Disney owned properties where guests still receive most of the benefits as the "on property" hotels.

As the deal between Marriott and Starwood has not yet been finalized the Swan and Dolphin will continue to operate under Starwood Hotels & Resorts. The deal is expected to be finalized in mid-2016.

The hotel's name will continue to be the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort.

I love the Swan hotel- the beds really are "heavenly," but the last time we were there was just before the big refresh and it did seem like the hotel needed it. Chipped tiles and other signs of wear were not well hidden. I do hope the merger does not change the hotel; as someone who often travels with people who get "Mickey'ed" out by the end of the day, the S&D hotels are a great balance of being right in the parks, but also miles away in theme. The loyalty program and other discounts they offer can make staying there really affordable too!
