A Night with Pirates in the Caribbean on the Disney Cruise Line

As if it's not fun enough to set sail for a Disney Cruise, Disney pumps up the volume on the experience with the lively Pirates in the Caribbean Night. It may be one of the best Disney themed parties ever. A whole evening of swash buckling fun designed to entertain both young and old with a series of exciting events!

Guests Are Encouraged to Dress Like PiratesGuests Are Encouraged to Dress Like Pirates
Guests are encouraged to wear their pirate best, but if you don't have pirate gear packed, don't worry! At the start of dinner, you can don your pirate gear with a special bandana placed on your table. Crew Members dress in pirate garb, and greet you with an "Ahoy, matey" and "Arrr" in the Main Dining restaurants. Although menus are always subject to change, here's a sample of Pirates In the Caribbean dinner selections:

  • Blackbeard's Jumbo Crab Cakes
  • Caribbean-style Spicy Vegetable Gumbo Soup
  • The Black Pearl's Beef Tenderloin
  • A Treasure Chest Meringue filled with tropical fruit, berries and vanilla sauce

Up on the pool deck it's time for a party! "An automated floor slides out atop"and seamlessly covers"the central area of Goofy's Pool" creating a large entertainment space and dance floor. Crew Members dressed in Pirate finery entertain the youngsters with fun deck games and entertain the more mature crowd by serving the evening's Mai Tai-like specialty cocktail in light up, color changing souvenir pirate glasses. The stage becomes the centerpiece of activity as Mickey, Minnie and their whole pirate crew sing, dance and lead a super fun show.

Captain Mickey & Crew!Captain Mickey & Crew!
As the night goes on and as the sun goes down the music gets stronger and the games move off the floor to make room for a night of dancing! Learn the pirate line dance and groove the night away. When the fun is in full swing, black lighting, raucous music and skull-and-cross bone projections signal the arrival of Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and a gang of pirate baddies"bent on taking over the party for their own evil misdoing. Does the night belong to the cursed?

Never fear the ship's not lost! Captain Mickey shows up before all is lost and the event culminates in the revelry of a spectacular fireworks display set to the most fantastic pirate music you'll find anywhere and the only fireworks display in the world that is offered by a cruise line.

Do you think Pirates In The Caribbean Night sounds like a blast? Have you sailed the seven seas with Captain Mickey? Is this your favorite way to watch fireworks? Leave me a comment and say "Aye Aye!" if you're a fan of this exclusive Disney Cruise Line Party!

It's a well themed party, but on the 3 night cruises the plan is slightly altered. Since you're only eating at each restaurant once on that cruise, they don't use the special Pirate menu (at least, they didn't with ours).

The crew costumes really do lend to the fun, but if you don't have kids who are into playing the games the whole thing gets old pretty fast for adults. It's worth watching the initial show, but we ended up retiring to The District pretty quickly once things went to the games/dancing part.

Phil - We did the 3 day cruise, but ate dinner at Palo on that night. We hit the deck party both before and after dinner, and it worked out great because we saw the first show and had cocktails on deck, then went to eat, after dinner we were back in time for some dancing and the fireworks!

Kristen... when was your cruise? Ours was a month ago, and the menu for us that night (it was the Royal Palace for us that night) was the normal one for that restaurant. I do not know if they have changed things for the short cruises or not... all I can say is that's what they were doing for us.

The fireworks at sea are indeed neat, if rather shorter than theme park goers might be accustomed to. There was another cruise ship a ways off who got a free peek at ours.

Phil - My last Disney cruise was a year ago, so the dinner menu could have easily changed. I agree with the fireworks being shorter than what most theme park goers are used to, but you've got o consider how unique it is at all that they have them. :-)

We had a blast on PitC night. Our bandanas on the Dream were delivered to our rooms and tHe chocolates that night were gold doubloons. The pirate menu was tasty however we missed the buffet....
Jack Sparrow tried taking our ship and captain Mickey rescued us. The DJ was fun and we danced with several CMs. We did a B2B sailing and really had fun. I loved being a pirate. We dressed up and everything!
Good times
Dee

We're going on our cruise this Sept. I'm hoping they'll have the pirate night as well. We won't have any kids with us since they've grown up and on their own now. We haven't been on a Disney Cruise so we're really looking forward to this. I just hope that we can find things to do during the day when we are at sea for two straight days. any suggestions?
