Hurricane Irma is continuing to churn through the warm waters of the Atlantic, heading toward south Florida. The Orlando area will likely feel the impacts of the storm later this weekend, and Disney World has announced several closures and cancellations ahead of the storm.

Walt Disney World Resort has announced that this summer will be the 'Coolest Summer Ever' and to kick off the cool season there will be a 24-hour party on May 22-23 at the Magic Kingdom. Disney made the announcement from a still snowy Boston where a little bit of summer was created thanks to a 20-foot-wide beach complete with Cinderella Castle and Olaf.

Waiting for a Disney bus to take you from a resort to a theme park can often be a frustrating guessing game.

But, guests who are waiting for the bus at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village no longer have to guess on the bus arrival time thanks to the digital arrival screen that is available at the bus stop.

Upcoming Perks for Passholders

The latest edition of Mickey Monitor, a newsletter sent to Walt Disney World passholders quarterly, is out, and in it are quite a few discounts and perks geared specifically for passholders.

First, passholders heading to Disney's Hollywood Studios can visit a tent with Star Tours merchandise specifically for them. The tent will be open during every Star Wars weekend from May 20 through June 12.

Disney Water Park Rentals Prove Popular

If you're planing to stay and play the whole day at either Disney water park, Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, then consider heading right for their available rentals.

"Beachcomber Shacks" and "Polar Patios" are available for rent in the water parks and prove to be very popular, often filling up within an hour after the park opens.

Up to six guets can enjoy each shack or patio for the day. Rentals also include towels, Adirondack-style seating, a locker, beverages, and overhead shade and shelter. A personal attendant who can take and deliver orders from a menu is also included.
