An all-new stage show is coming to the Magic Kingdom this summer. Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire stars Mickey Mouse and characters from The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, and Frozen in a show filled with "magic, music, and merriment."

In addition to the big announcement about a total Star Wars Expansion at Disney's Hollywood Studios, there was some more exciting galactic news about what will be coming up in the next year to further incorporate the Star Wars Universe into the bi-coastal Disney Parks. Walt Disney World will get a number of these Star War enhancements for guests to enjoy while waiting for the new land to open.

New Line of Disney Purses Available from Designer Olympia Le-Tan

Fans of Disney-inspired purses and handbags will want to check out the new line of Disney clutches from designer Olympia Le Tan. The purses featured embroidered images of some of Disney's best-known characters including Bambi, Dumbo, and even Cruella de Vil.

Disney Park Pack Trading Edition Pins Coming to Disney Parks Online Store

Disney Parks pin collectors and traders have a new way to enjoy Disney pins when they aren't actually in the theme parks. The all-new Disney Parks Pack Trading Edition pin boxes are arriving at the Disney Parks online store this week.

Miss America Contestants Visited the Magic Kingdom Prior to Competition

Before heading to Atlantic City, NJ to compete for the title of Miss America 2015, all 53 Miss America contestants visited the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort.

The contestants had a chance to show off their "Disney Side" while touring the park, riding the attractions, and even spending time with some of the characters including Prince Charming who shared a dance in front of Cinderella Castle with the ladies.

Disney Files Several Patent Applications for Drone Use in the Theme Parks

It sounds a little bit like something straight out of science fiction, but Disney recently filed three patent applications related to drone use in its theme parks.

The three patent applications are for: Aerial Display System with Floating Pixels, Aerial Display System with Floating Projection Screens, and Aerial Display System with Marionettes Articulated and Supported by Airborne Devices.

More Details Released for the ‘Villains Unleashed’ Event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

In a just a few weeks the Disney villains are descending upon Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney has released more spooky details.

More than 50 Disney villains are scheduled to attend Villains Unleashed on August 23, with Hades, Megara, and Pain and Panic serving as hosts.

After kicking things off at 8 p.m. the Hercules villains will be joined on stage by the Underworld Dancers, DJ Igg Nite, and other villains including the Queen of Hearts, the Sheriff of Nottingham, the Big Bad Wolf, and Captain Hook.

Lion King Wing Opens at Disney's Art of Animation Resort

On Friday August 10th The Pride Lands of Africa opened in the third phase of Disney's Art of Animation Resort at Walt Disney World Resort. The whimsically designed property, is situated just across the Generation Gap Bridge from Disney's popular Pop Century Resort. The opening of the Lion King wing celebrates Simba's journey, with landscapes and theming that reflect playful and poignant scenes from the Academy Award-winning Walt Disney Pictures animated film "The Lion King."

Last column we talked about characters in the parks. That got us to thinking about some of our favorite characters in the movies, and what better place to start than the very characters that drive the action in most stories: the villains.

Three Rare Disney Characters and Where to Find Them

Even though we go to the parks as grown-ups without kids, that doesn't mean we are immune to the charms of the characters. Sometimes, even if we aren't hunting autographs, it's fun to see some of the more elusive characters out and about. Of course -- parades don't count! ;-)

Pooh and Friends at the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival

Another Friday visit to the Flower and Garden Festival is in order today! Last week we showed off the new Cars 2 topiaries; this week, let's take a look at our favorite Hundred Acre Wood characters -- Pooh and friends.

From what we can tell, these topiaries are here to promo the new Pooh movie, but we're OK with that. They're pretty cute, and they are some of our family's favorite characters after all.
