Annette Funicello Dies at Age 70

Actress and former Mousketeer Annette Funicello died today from complications of Multiple Sclerosis. She was 70 years old.

The news first broke online via D23, who announced via Twitter: "We're sorry to report beloved Disney Mouseketeer and iconic teen star Annette Funicello has passed away at age 70." Funicello's family later confirmed that the star died, surrounded by family after she was removed from life support.

Epcot's 30th Anniversary Schedule of Events

Epcot is turning the big 3-0 this year, and D23, Disney's official fan club, is helping the park celebrate. For those of you lucky enough to be planning a trip to Epcot this October 1, here is a list of what to expect to help Epcot ring in their 30th anniversary.

D23 is planning special presentations about the history of Epcot in the World Showcase. Each presentation is included in the park admission ticket, but seating is limited. Here's the schedule:

New Fantasyland Expansion Details

A recent D23 event shed more light onto the ongoing Fantasyland expansion at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. The creative director of the expansion, Chris Beatty of Disney Imagineering, was on hand to divulge some details.

First off, there will be a new wall to separate Cinderella's Castle from Fantasyland. The wall, which will be situated where the current Dumbo ride is, will look "old" and "like it's always been there" according to Beatty.

2011 Disney Fan Club Events Announced

D23, the Official Disney Fan Club, has a great line up of events planned for 2011. The club has a wide range of activities that is sure to please Disney fans of all ages, so mark your calendars now.

On January 29, there is a special preview screening planned of the new Disney Junior show "Jake and the Never Land Pirates." Two eleven minute episodes of the animated series will be shown at the preview, and star David Arquette, who provides the voice for Skulky, will be on hand with Disney Geek Jeff Epstein for a Q & A session.

First Looks at Captain America: Civil War

D23 has officially ended and the movie buzz is enormous. From the obviously huge Star Wars news to a brand new Alice in Wonderland movie, D23 did not disappoint the fans. One of the biggest blocks of information came out of the Marvel room as Captain America: Civil War was showcased to Disney fans for the very first time. Inside a massive hall filled with 7,500 convention goers, Chris Evans (aka Captain America) and Anthony Mackie (aka Falcon) introduced the first official teaser trailer for Captain America: Cvil War.
