Disney’s Accelerator Program Announces Startup Participants

Disney recently announced the 11 startup companies selected to participate in the Disney Accelerator program.

The Disney Accelerator, powered by Techstars, is a first-of-its-kind program for The Walt Disney Company that is connecting innovative companies with Disney, and giving them access to the creative expertise and resources needed to help them develop new entertainment experiences and products.

More Disney Talent Announced for D23 Destination D: Attraction Rewind

More names have been added to the roster of talent for D23 Destination D: Attraction Rewind.

The event is presented by H2O Plus and is scheduled to take place November 22 and 23 at the Walt Disney World Resort.

The roster of special guests includes Disney Legends, Imagineers, and others who are coming together to celebrate fan favorites including Adventure Thru Inner Space, If You Had Wings, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Destination D: Attraction Rewind is Just One of D23’s Special Events for 2014

D23: The Official Disney Fan Club has announced its slate of special events for 2014 and perhaps one of the biggest events for this year is Destination D: Attraction Rewind Presented by H2O Plus.

This event is scheduled for July 26-27 at the Walt Disney World Resort and will bring together Disney archivists, Imagineers, and Legends to celebrate favorite Disney attractions of yesteryear.

Fans will have a chance to see concept art and images from the attractions, vintage video, and more.

Walt Disney Imagineering Gives Fans a Behind the Scenes Look at the Cars for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is set to open later this spring at the Magic Kingdom and will be the final addition in New Fantasyland.

As fans eagerly await the debut of the new attraction, Disney Imagineering is giving everyone a sneak peek into what it takes to produce the themed cars for the ride.

In this video, Imagineers Ben VanBeusekon and Mary Mac Eachin explain the creative process behind the creation of the mine cars.

Jungle Cruise Getting Holiday Makeover as the Jingle Cruise

For the first time ever, The Jungle Cruise is getting a holiday transformation into the Jingle Cruise just in time for the holidays.

Disney says the transformation is happening because the Jungle Cruise skippers are homesick for the holidays and they decided it was time to add holiday cheer to the queue and boathouse using decorations mailed from home. The Skippers are also getting crafty and have created some homemade decorations.

Disney Extra Credit Magazine Covers Education and the Performing Arts

The second edition of Disney Extra Credit Magazine recently debuted, just in time for back-to-school.

The publication from Disney Youth Programs is designed for educators and students and covers topics in performing arts and education.

The new issue features stories by Joe Rohde, Senior Vice President and Creative Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering, and Thomas Schumacher, Producer and President of Walt Disney Theatrical.

Debuting Soon at the Magic Kingdom – A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas

Ahoy matey! All you landlubbers best be brushing up on your pirate skills! You'll need them when A Pirate's Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas opens this Summer at the Magic Kingdom.

This new interactive game takes guests on a quest to save Adventureland, all while locating the Treasures of the Seven Seas and fighting off enemies.

New Appointment in Disney Imagineering Indicates Possible 'Significant Activity' at WDW

It's been reported Walt Disney Imagineering has recently undergone a shuffle of sorts of its employees - all of which could indicate new activity in Walt Disney World's future.

The newest change in Walt Disney Imagineering has Kathy Magnum taking on the new role of "Producer, Walt Disney World Portfolio." This new role will have Magnum partnering up with Jack Blitch and working with Meg Crofton as a creative producer for Walt Disney World. She'll continue to report to Walt Disney Imagineering Chief Creative Executive Bruce Vaughn.

Disney Nabs Four Thea Awards

The Themed Entertainment Awards announced their choices for this year's Thea Awards recipients on Tuesday, naming four that were Disney-related.

Disneyland and Walt Disney World shared an award for outstanding achievement in the "attraction refresh" category for Star Tours. The attraction reopened in May in both the California and Disney Hollywood Studios locations.

Disney World also nabbed another award with the nightly Magic Kingdom show, "The Magic, The Memories and You." Shown on Cinderella's Castle, it received outstanding achievement in the "show spectacular" category.
