Fantasyland Rumor: Snow White's Scary Adventures To Close February 2012

We knew Snow White's Scary Adventures would eventually be closing as part of the ongoing Fantasyland expansion at Walt Disney World. Now, Stitch Kingdom is reporting a possible timeframe of when to expect that closing.

Rumor has it the Fantasyland attraction will close to guests sometime in February 2012. It's closing will make way for the planned Princess Fairytale Hall where guests can, appropriately enough, greet Disney's bevy of princess beauties.

A Video Look: Imagineers, Technology and Fantasyland

It's not really news that the Fantasyland expansion is in full swing with many updates planned for that area. What is new is the use of some innovative and generally nifty technology used by the Imagineers hard at work on the expansion.

The video below takes us behind the scenes as Imagineers plan and construct a virtual project on a computer before the real thing goes up in WDW, and are able to pinpoint any concerns before the first nail is hammered into place.

New Fantasyland Expansion Details

A recent D23 event shed more light onto the ongoing Fantasyland expansion at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. The creative director of the expansion, Chris Beatty of Disney Imagineering, was on hand to divulge some details.

First off, there will be a new wall to separate Cinderella's Castle from Fantasyland. The wall, which will be situated where the current Dumbo ride is, will look "old" and "like it's always been there" according to Beatty.

Snow White Attraction to Close as Fantasyland Expands

While Fantasyland in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom seems to be a number one destination for the eight-and-under set, we know there are some grown ups out there who aren't opposed to spending some time with Dumbo, Pooh and Snow White. Mickey's Toontown Fair's Last Day Is In February 2011

If you want to visit the Magic Kingdom before Mickey's Toontown Fair closes, you'd better start planning soon. That particular area of the park is set to be closed on February 11, 2011, as part of the ongoing Fantasyland expansion.

This isn't exactly shocking news as Disney had announced plans to "repurpose" Goofy's Barnstormer when the first news of the expansion hit. However, it is a bit of sad news as the Fair has become a fixture at the kingdom and is a popular stop among the character-seeking set.

Changes to Fantasyland Expansion Plans

The fact that bulldozers have already gone to work might lead you to believe that the plans for the Fantasyland update were long since finalized. According to an interview with the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs in the Orlando Sentinel, this is not the case.

Magic Kingdom is the heart and soul of the Walt Disney World resort and no land captures the essence of Magic Kingdom like Fantasyland. While many of the other lands were inspired by episodes of Walt Disney's Disneyland, which last aired in 1958, Fantasyland is a tribute to the enduring animated features that children still grow up on today. We live in a world where an 85-year-old woman and her 7-year-old great-granddaughter might have both been the same age when they saw Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for the first time.
