Walt Disney Theater Opens at Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts

Disney recently celebrated the opening of the Walt Disney Theater at Orlando's new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts (DPAC).

The all-new Walt Disney Theater will be home to Broadway-style shows and musical performances. The theater is a 2,700 seat hall with tiered seating.

Disney VoluntEARS Spread Holiday Cheer through Donation of 36,000 Toys to Toys for Tots Campaign

Walt Disney World Resort cast members have been working harder than Santa's elves to make the holidays magical for families in Central Florida.

More than 36,000 toys have been collected by cast member VoluntEARS have collected and the new toys were donated to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots to benefit kids in Orange and Seminole counties.

The VoluntEARS have also given more than 6,000 volunteer hours helping sort and pack the toys and helping the Marines register families for the annual giving campaign.

University of Central Florida Honors President of Walt Disney World Resort

Walt Disney World Resort president George A. Kalogridis was recently awarded the 2013 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Central Florida.

Kalogridis graduated from UCF in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in sociology.

The award is the highest honor the university gives to its graduates and acknowledges alumni for professional achievements, volunteer work with the university, and community service.

Responsibility for MyMagic+ Turned Over to Disney World President George A. Kalogridis

As the full launch of the MyMagic+ project nears, the Walt Disney Company has turned over responsibility of the project to Disney World President George A. Kalogridis.

Kalogridis will have day-to-day oversight on the project and will be in charge of implementing it. Up until this move the project had been led since 2009 by Nick Franklin, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts' executive vice president for next generation experience.
