German Tourist Accused of Making Fake Bomb Threat at WDW

This past Sunday morning, a tourist from Germany was arrested after allegedly making a fake bomb threat near the entrance of the Magic Kingdom.

Jochen Naumann, 37, apparently told cast members working the security checkpoint at the Magic Kingdom that he had two bombs in his backpack. When the cast member questioned Naumann further, the German tourist repeated he had bombs in his backpack.

A sherriff deputy stationed at the checkpoint then called in a bomb-sniffing dog while he took the tourist into custody. The dog did not find any explosive devices in the man's backpack.

Security Increased At Disney Fantasy Shipyard Following Damage To Ship

Disney Fantasy, the newest Disney Cruise Ship currently under construction in a Germany shipyard, sustained water damage earlier this month. Now, Meyer Werft has boosted its security for the yard.

A mysterious water valve leak aboard the Fantasy caused water damage on the ship sometime in early December. While early reports out of Germany had the damage estimated at over $1 million, Disney has called that figure an exaggeration. According to Disney spokeswoman Rebecca Peddle, "There was some water damage that resulted in them having to replace some carpeting. It was not significant."

Holidays Around the World at Epcot

While many families gravitate towards the fantastic environment of the Magic Kingdom for their Christmas time fantasy, I have always loved the cultural diversity of Holidays Around the World at Epcot. A highly anticipated part of the season this tradition brings together storytellers from around the globe to share seasonal tales of Winter Holidays in Epcot's World Showcase.

Tradition of the Pickle Tree in Epcot's Germany Pavilion

One of my favorite Disney Christmas traditions can really be found all year long in the Germany Pavilion at Epcot. For may family, it began back in the 1980s when my Dad, who for some unknown reason, became a huge fan of The Pickle Tree.

Best Job in Disney World...or the Worst?

I ventured back to Karamell Kuche in Epcot's Germany pavilion recently to pick up some caramel corn. As I was waiting in line I watched one of the cast members there dipping strawberries into the chocolate. I thought to myself: "That must be the best job in the world." I mean it's like working in a rainbow factory or being a unicorn handler. What could be better than spending the day manufacturing pure wonder.

Drinking around the World at Epcot

We've all thought about it, or have done it ... perhaps several times: drinking "around the World" at Epcot's World Showcase.

Christmas Hidden Mickeys

We're big fans of finding Hidden Mickeys around here! For those who haven't heard of them, Hidden Mickeys are defined as:

a partial or complete impression of Mickey Mouse placed by the Imagineers and artists to blend into the designs of Disney attractions, hotels, restaurants, and other areas.

Top beer spots at Disney World

Good beer is surprisingly easier to come by at Disney World than one might think. Not a drop will be found at the Magic Kingdom, but there's plenty of great brew to be found in Epcot, Downtown Disney and the Boardwalk resort area.
