Responsibility for MyMagic+ Turned Over to Disney World President George A. Kalogridis

As the full launch of the MyMagic+ project nears, the Walt Disney Company has turned over responsibility of the project to Disney World President George A. Kalogridis.

Kalogridis will have day-to-day oversight on the project and will be in charge of implementing it. Up until this move the project had been led since 2009 by Nick Franklin, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts' executive vice president for next generation experience.

Magic Band Technology Possibly Boosting Guest Spending at Walt Disney World

A few weeks ago we reported on the new accessories available for the Magic Bands currently being tested by some guests at the Walt Disney World Resort. While one might expect a boost in spending thanks to the fun accessories, it appears that the technology behind the bands is also boosting spending by guests.

Magic Band Accessories Debut at the Walt Disney World Resort

As the beta testing of the Magic Band continues at the Walt Disney World Resort, it's being reported that some stores on property are selling accessories for the Magic Bands.

The Magic Bands are lightweight, flexible wristbands that will be used by guests to enter the Walt Disney World parks, access FastPass+ attractions, and more. They are part of the MyMagic+ guest experience that Disney is slowing rolling out to guests.

Online Check-in Period Extended to 60 Days

Preparations are happening across property to get ready for the MyMagic+ features that we talked about last week. To this end the My Disney Experience Website has increased the time period in which you can check-in to your Walt Disney World Resort Online. Formerly guests staying on property at one of the Disney Resort Hotels were allowed to check in as far out as 10 days in advance to their arrival date.

Congressional Bi-Partisan Privacy Caucus Questions Disney on MyMagic+

Last week Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger received a letter from the Co-Chairman of the Congressional Bi-Partisan Privacy Caucus, Edward Markey, (D- Mass). The letter called the company on the carpet and demanded answers to seven multi-part questions about the collection of personal date from guests, with a focus on youth.

MyMagic+ Set to Roll Out at Walt Disney World

Earlier this week Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Tom Staggs, offered fans a glimpse into the future. The details of the $1 billion NextGen program have been much speculated over the past few years, but it's about to begin a major roll out to the public and "push the boundaries of the [Walt Disney World] guest experience."
