Filming Begins in Vancouver for Disney’s Mysterious ‘Tomorrowland’

While we don't know much about Disney's Tomorrowland - other than it likely has nothing to do with the actual Tomorrowland - we can tell you that filming has started in Vancouver on the mystery/adventure film.

The film stars two-time Academy Award winner George Clooney (Syriana), along with Hugh Laurie (House), Britt Robertson (Under The Dome), Raffey Cassidy (Snow White and the Huntsman), and Thomas Roberston (The Switch).

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party returns to the Magic Kingdom on September 10 and this year marks the debut of Jack Skellington and Sally from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Guests will have a chance to meet The Pumpkin King and his true love in Town Square on Main Street U.S.A.

Star Wars fans now have two more places to build their very own droid. And now that experience is also available at the Downtown Disney Marketplace and in Disneyland.

Astro Orbiter Closed After Small Fire Over Weekend

The Astro Orbiter, a ride at the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland, was closed on Sunday due to a small fire. One of the ride's lights shorted out and melted sometime that morning, causing officials to shut down the ride for the rest of the day.

Bo Jones, an assistant chief with Reedy Creek Emergency Services, called the incident "very minor" and stated "we had it out in no time."

The decorative ring at the top center of the ride was the location of the malfunction and the affected light.

A Bit of Magic Kingdom Food News

For all of you WDW foodies out there, here is some news for you! It looks like there are a few new menu items to be had in the Magic Kingdom, including a Mickey pretzel.

Turns out, the pretzel is already popular at Disneyland and is being tested out at the Magic Kingdom. If you'd like to give the snack a try, head over to the Frontierland Pretzel Wagon (look for it between the Pecos Bill Cafe and the Diamond Horseshoe); at present, this is the only location within WDW to sell this iconic treat.

Tomorrowland Refurbishment Brings A Bright New Color Scheme

Unlike most of the Lands in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, Tomorrowland is always fighting against time to stay current and ahead of it all in this modern age. This has lead to a bit of personality disorder as the overall themeing and attractions seem to get switched up more than anyplace else. Apparently it's about that time again, and Tomorrowland is getting a facelift.

Best Magic Kingdom Attractions to Ride at Night

The nighttime hours at the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks are a completely different experience than the daytime hours. At Epcot the sidewalks twinkle in Future World and the World Showcase pavilions light up, and I still get lost in the dark at Disney's Hollywood Studios. I haven't yet experienced the Animal Kingdom after dark but it's on my "to do" list. And my favorite park after dark? The Magic Kingdom.

In the middle of the day you may not need to head back to your room, but sometimes it's nice to take a little break in your touring schedule. These five great attractions let your party keep on touring while still giving everyone the chance to sit down and rest for a few minutes. Whether you want to get off of your feet or you're looking for a little climate control these classic attractions keep the magic alive and can help you rejuvenate.

5 Reasons To Love Tomorrowland

Since it first debuted Tomorrowland in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom has always been fighting against time. It's the only land that is continually up against a constant clock, and Disney Imagineers are always working to keep its environments, attractions, and overall "theme" in the future. During some decades this has been easier to achieve than others. What we have currently is a sort of 1950's retro-future kitsch - yet somehow it works. Read on to find out (in no particular order) five reasons I love Tomorrowland.
