Deal Between Turner Classic Movies and The Walt Disney Company Means Changes Coming to The Great Movie Ride

As part of a new deal between the Turner Classic Movies cable channel and The Walt Disney Company, The Great Movie Ride will be getting an update as early as next spring.

This new deal which is being officially announced today, joins TCM with two divisions of The Walt Disney Company.

Tickets are on sale for the 2015 D23 Expo which will take place August 14-16, 2015 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The D23 Expo is the largest Disney fan event in the world, celebrating all facets of Disney entertainment including The Walt Disney Studios (including Marvel, Pixar, and Lucasfilm), Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Disney Consumer Products, Disney media networks, and Disney Interactive.

In 2013 more than 65,000 Disney fans gathered for the third annual D23 Expo.

Walt Disney Studios Announces Slate of 2014 Movie Release Dates

Last year was a successful year at the box office for The Walt Disney Studios, and now it's time to get ready for a whole new slate of movies.

The first movie from the Mouse House arrives February 28 when The Wind Rises is released by Touchstone Pictures.

Hand Drawn Animators Included in Layoffs at The Walt Disney Company

During the past couple of weeks reports began surfacing about impending staff cuts at The Walt Disney Company, and by the end of the week the cuts became official as nine veteran animators from the hand drawn animation team were let go.

Tom Bancroft, a former Disney animator, tweeted out the names of the animators from his personal account on April 11. Several online sites also listed the names. The veteran hand drawn artists who lost their jobs are: Nik Ranieri, Ruben Aquino, Frans Vischer, Russ Edmonds, Brian Ferguson, Jamie Lopez and Dan Tanaka.

A background painter, color stylist, and concept designer, Claude Coats worked with The Walt Disney Company for over 50 years. Known as the "gentle giant" because of his towering stature -- he was 6 feet, 6 1/8 inches-tall -- Coats worked on some of Disney Studio's most iconic animated features and helped bring Disneyland, Disney World, and other parks to life.

Coats was born on January 17, 1913 in San Francisco, California and graduated from the University of Southern California in 1934. After studying at the Chouinard Art Institute Coats joined The Walt Disney Studios in 1935.
