Former Walt Disney Carolwood Estate Sells for $74 Million

The Carolwood Estate mansion, located on the property that Walt and Lillian Disney called home, has sold for $74 million.

When the estate was listed in 2012 the asking price was $90 million. Pro soccer team owner Gabriel Brener was the owner of the former Disney homestead.

Author Jim Korkis Releases New Book, ‘Who’s the Leader of the Club?’

Disney expert and author Jim Korkis has published a new book that focuses on Walt Disney's leadership principles.

The book, Who's the Leader of the Club?, is a workbook written for those who are in leadership positions or for those who are looking to improve their leadership skills, whether they are the owner of a small business or the Little League coach. Each chapter ends with a one-page checklist, "What Would Walt Do?" that summarizes the key points in the lesson.

Pirates of the Caribbean Celebrates its 40th Anniversary at the Magic Kingdom

Pirates of the Caribbean celebrated its 40th anniversary at the Magic Kingdom on December 15.

The original Pirates of the Caribbean opened in Disneyland in 1967, taking guests back in time to a pirate-filled Caribbean complete with cannons, swordfights, and songs. The Magic Kingdom's Pirates attraction opened in 1973 and was one of the park's first major additions after its 1971 opening.

Disney VoluntEARS Spread Holiday Cheer through Donation of 36,000 Toys to Toys for Tots Campaign

Walt Disney World Resort cast members have been working harder than Santa's elves to make the holidays magical for families in Central Florida.

More than 36,000 toys have been collected by cast member VoluntEARS have collected and the new toys were donated to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots to benefit kids in Orange and Seminole counties.

The VoluntEARS have also given more than 6,000 volunteer hours helping sort and pack the toys and helping the Marines register families for the annual giving campaign.

House Where Walt Disney was Born to be Restored and Preserved

Today in honor of Walt Disney's birthday, WDB Restorations LLC is announcing the groundbreaking on the restoration and preservation of the home where Walt and Roy Disney were born in Chicago.

Chicago's Mayor Rahm Emanuel has proclaimed today to be "Walt Disney Day" in honor of the groundbreaking.

The home, located at 2156 N. Tripp Avenue, was built by Elias Disney in 1893 and was designed by their mother Flora. Elias also built several of the other homes on the street.

It's not often that one finds an inscription from Walt Disney that isn't in his famous script, but if you visit the Shadows-on-the-Teche, an antebellum historic home in New Iberia, Louisiana, you'll see his graffiti on a door in the home.

The home is the property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the door has been signed by many people over the years, including Walt Disney, author Henry Miller, and Elia Kazan, the director of A Streetcar Named Desire.

Sustainable Florida Recognizes the Walt Disney World Recognized for Energy Conservation

The Walt Disney World Resort was recently recognized by Sustainable Florida for their work with energy conservation and was given the organization's large business best practice award.

The company had set a goal to reduce electrical usage by 10 percent and based the goal on its 2006 consumption. In this year alone, Walt Disney World saved enough electricity to power Space Mountain for 35 years.

Responsibility for MyMagic+ Turned Over to Disney World President George A. Kalogridis

As the full launch of the MyMagic+ project nears, the Walt Disney Company has turned over responsibility of the project to Disney World President George A. Kalogridis.

Kalogridis will have day-to-day oversight on the project and will be in charge of implementing it. Up until this move the project had been led since 2009 by Nick Franklin, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts' executive vice president for next generation experience.

The Walt Disney Company Will No Longer Issue Paper Stock Certificates to Shareholders

If you're a collector of all things Disney, the time to purchase Disney stock and receive a paper stock certificate is coming to an end.

The Walt Disney Company has announced that it will stop issuing paper stock certificates to shareholders as of October 16.
