20th Wedding Anniversary plans - Grand Floridian - Victoria & Albert's - When can I book??

So, I was answering a question on the forums about your Disney bucket list... Well, it reminded me that my wife and I plan on staying at the Grand Floridian and eating dinner at Victoria & Albert's for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. It is another 3.5 years from now and I know it seems a ways away, but I want to start saving now, and was wondering how far in advance can I make a reservation at the Grand Floridian and can I lock in a rate? Same goes for Victoria & Alberts? Thanks for any help you might provide in response to these questions!! awesome

I don't know about locking in a rate, but I just tried to make a reservation at Victoria & Albert's as a non-resort guest, and I could only check availability until April 7th. So it looks like 180 days for ADRs. (I didn't actually count the number of days, but it's slightly less than 6 months from today.)

You can make room only reservations 499 days in advance. You can't book any packages (room with tickets and / dining plan) until the rates are released for the following year. I believe the room rate would be the current rate. If you change to a package it change to the new year's rate.

I'm guessing ADRs for V&A will be at the 180 day mark.

My opinion is that there's no point until the specials come out. Packages are what a year in advance? and room only discounts are quarterly -- right now the April/May/June discounts are out.

As JoAnn said 499 Days for a room only reservation and
As BarbaraB said 180 Days for Dining.

If this is your dream anniversary trip (which it sounds like it is) I would book the room only as soon as possible, and then switch over to a package or have a room only discount applied once those open up. But I'm the kind of gal that likes to lock things down early, waiting until 3 months before a trip to know if I had a room or not would send me into cardiac arrest.

Kristin,

Thanks for the info. I too am an early planner and would want to lock in a room as soon as I could. I'll ask to change to a discounted rate later, should one come available.
