30th Mega Birthday Pre-Trip Report

Hey all!

I am turning 30 on May 14th (aaargh!) and am going to treat myself to a Disney trip (of course). This time I am going with my family (sort of - me and my partner have a room booked separately and they are arriving different days) and making it a MEGA celebration clapping

I've been planning like mad - here goes:
(Any suggestions to add are greatly appreciated, though!!)

Wednesday 4th May:
Arrive at Disneys Wilderness Lodge! Taking the Magical Express from the airport (like I'm going to miss watching that video!) and probably getting in early evening, depending on how awful customs is at the airport! Probably have a wander about the resort then an early night (have to get a taxi at 5:30am to catch the plane! Zzzzz).

Thursday 5th May:
Epcot Day - Extra magic hours in the morning - we might be jetlagged enough to wake up in time! Lovely chilled day around Epcot, looking at the flowers Smile Food stall lunch, Teppan Edo dinner in the evening and then the fireworks (if we can stay up!)

Friday 6th May:
Animal Kingdom Day - REALLY hope to see Rivers of Light, am on the edge of my seat for a FastPass as I hear that the seating is very limited there. Dinner at Yak and Yeti at 5:45pm.

Saturday 7th May:
Romantic Magic Kingdom Day with my partner. Last day until the rest of my family arrive, so going to just have a chill time Smile Via Napoli dinner in the evening at Epcot - catch the fireworks then if we went to sleep early on Thursday!
My mum, dad and little brother (will, he's 28, but... he's my little brother..) arrive late this day. Magic Kingdom is open til midnight and my brother says he wants to come! But I think he will be a bit tired after his flight! If not, then it's a nighttime blitz of the MK with my bro! What's the best things at night at the MK?
Mum and Dad and Alex are staying at the Old Key West resort.

Sunday May 8th
Hollywood Studios day with everyone - lunch at the Sci-Fi Restaurant then Fantasmic in the evening Smile
My two aunts arrive this day but they won't join us til the 9th. They are staying a the Polynesian, (I'm a but jealous...).

Monday May 9th
Animal Kingdom day with my family. Rainforest Cafe lunch, watching all the shows Smile Going to Medieval Times with my fella, brother and aunts in the evening! I hear it's no longer unlimited drinks at Medieval Times? (As I child I dimly remember my parents getting a little bit smashed on the beer?).

Tuesday May 10th
Hopefully not a hungover day at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure with my brother and partner. I HATE fast rides, but they'll keep each other company. Got express passes anyway. Might hide in the margarita restaurant! Dinner at Antojitos in the evening.
Mum, Dad and Aunts are going to Hollywood Studios and the Brown Derby.

Wednesday May 11th

Chill day - see what everyone wants to do in the daytime (any tips?). Dinner at the Boathouse at 5pm, then La Nouba at 9pm (got amazing seats is section 104! Eeek!).

Thursday May 12th

EVERYONE is going to the Fairytale Dining Breakfast - NO EXCEPTIONS. I hope to take many photos Smile Everyone at the Magic Kingdom today for a very magical day. Be Our Guest booking in the evening then fireworks.

Friday May 13th
My Dads birthday! His request is a day on the rubber rings floating around the lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon, and so it shall be Smile We've booked a cabana as well, since all of us will be there and it seems v. convenient (and Dad will probably get bored with the floating after a bit and want somewhere to sit and read his book). Dinner at Fultons Crab House in the evening.

Saturday May 14th

My 30th! I actually really don't know what to do in the day!! So, guys - what should I do? Smile I've got Shulas Steak House booked for dinner in the evening, but apart from that, nothing. Are there any good tours or something special?

Sunday May 15th
Chilled Day at Epcot with everyone - dinner at Hacienda de Dan Angel at 7:45 - we might be able to see the fireworks out the window?

Monday May 16th
Universal Studios Day with Everyone.

Tuesday May 17th

My last day Sad
Keys to the Kingdom Tour with everyone, then the Wishes Cruise in the evening - does anyone know about ordering food on these boats? How does it work? Menus? We won't be back at Disney for a very long time after this, I want to really go a bit mad and have my last day to be awesome.

Wednesday May 18th
Fly home :'(

So guys - what do you think? Any help adding more things would be awesome muchlove

Sounds like an amazing trip you have planned Smile why not plan to do the rides that you love the most on your birthday or maybe have like a themed day around your favourite disney film?

Sounds like a fantastic trip! Definitely hit Big Thunder Mountain, Seven Dwarfs, and Astro Orbiter in the dark! And if it were me, I'd maybe do the Cali Grill brunch and then a day at MK for my birthday. awesome

Ok - May 13th has changed! Fultons is closed for a refurb (even though I had booked it... hmpf, why didn't they open it just for us? Wink ) We are now going to Johnnies Hideaway - it's supposed to be really good crab there! Have any of you guys been? Smile

For my birthday it looks like the Villans club is taking bookings and I'd LOVE that - but I've seen some videos and pics online and there are a lot of kids, is it very child-friendly and not so good for big kids celebrating a 30th?

My parents have just come back from 12 nights in Disney. They really liked Johnnies Hideaway and recommended it to us for next time we go. I think it was their favourite dining experience of this trip.

The Jungle Cruise at night is great! Actually gets cornier (is that a word). Maybe even grab a FP for it if you can, it is very popular at night. On your B-day. If your Shula's reservation is done in time (excellent choice by the way) the MK fireworks cruise is fantastic. Your whole group could fit on a boat. Have a great time, you have a great itinerary.

I didn't think of the Jungle Cruise at night - what a brilliant idea Laughing out loud I love it anyway in the day and if it's sillier at night then I am all for it muchlove
