6 Degrees of Disney (Game)

Here's An Idea for a Game. Someone posts 2 Things At Disneyand the next person has to describe the connection in 6 Degrees or less, Then they name the next 2 things. try to keep the links specific. Nothing like They both are in the Magic kingdom. here's an Example.

Contemporary resort and Pirates of the Caribbean:

The Contemporary has a mural painted by the same woman that did paint work on It's a small world that uses the same ride system as Pirates of the Caribbean.

got it? Ok here..

The Scary adventures of Snow White, Pop Century resort.

Well, this is the newest way I've found to enjoyably waste all of my free time. biggrin

I've now spent almost 40 minutes trying to connect these two and all I can think of is:

1. Snow White was re-vamped in the 90's and Pop Century was approved for construction in the 90's

and

2. You can fit four people into a Snow White car and four people into a PC room

I'm slow today, I acknowledge, but I'd love to hear someone else's connection!

Decent thought. remember you have up to 6 links to get from point A to B. The two things may not have anything immediately in common.

I really like this game actually although I think it's eventually going to result in me just building a list of connections between rides. I'm just kind of randomly finding things that rides have in common so I can get from one to the other. I'm also spending _far_ too much time researching. laugh

Yeah, I'm learning a lot but I haven't found an interesting way to connect the two yet! No hints though, I will be irate if I figure it out and come back here and realize it's been given away!

In Snow White, you're riding in mine cars, which you're also riding in in BTMRR.

BTMRR was designed by imagineer Tony Baxter, who also designed the Disney Gallery in Disneyland.

The Disney Gallery held an exhibit in 2007 of vintage art from the Little Golden Books series.

There is a giant representation of a Little Golden Book in the "Andy's Room" loading and exit area of Toy Story Midway Mania in DHS.

Toy Story Midway Mania has a giant Mr. Potato-Head as part of the ride queue themeing.

Pop Century has a giant Mr. Potato-Head as part of the 1980's section themeing.

Whew! (Did you have a shorter trail in mind? Wink )

Next one:
The Haunted Mansion and 'Ohana Restaurant at the Polynesian Resort.

Well done, bali! I'll starting thinking about Haunted Mansion and 'Ohana now...

Good work Bali! I'll give it a go.

The Haunted Mansion features the voice and likeness of Thurl Ravenscroft.

Ravenscroft also voices characters in the Jolly Holiday sequence of Mary Poppins.

Mary Poppins is featured in a character breakfast at 1900 Park Faire at The Grand Floridian.

The Grand Floridian is a MK/monorail resort, as is The Polynesian.

'Ohana is one of the Polynesian Resort's sit down restaurants, and also offers a character breakfast.

Curious to know if this was Marzyar's route (or close).

I had the route figured out for my example but the first challenge was just picked out of the air. I figured I can learn as much from this as anyone else. (Do you think Alex Trebek knows all the answers?)

In a few rounds Ill be playing right along too. I wonder if I can make a board game of this?...
hmmm....
Or A Computer Game? ..
Hmm...(Dust off my old Code books.)

That's the way I look at it, there are many "correct" answers. There could be a bunch of different ways to link the two in 4-6 steps, and they could all be different and all correct.

For example, when I did bali's example, I could think of other ways to link the two, but I went with the one I went with.

The example I came up with, I can think of more than one way to link them, and you may come up with one completely different but just as correct.

Now, c'mon, someone play my example.

Imagineer, let me know if I've got it!

Stitch's Great Escape features a "spitting" animatronic, which means you, as a guest, can get wet in the attraction.

Another attraction on which you can get wet is the Studio Backlot Tour (in Catastrophe Canyon) in DHS.

Backlot Tour used to take guests on Residential Street, which included the outside set of the home of the Golden Girls.

One of the Golden Girls was played by Betty White.

Betty White has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next to Gary Owens.

World of Motion is narrated by Gary Owens. (Incidentally, the star on the other side of Gary Owens is occupied by Walt Disney!)

Next: Boardwalk Resort and 50's Prime Time Cafe

I had no idea WoM was narrated by Gary Owens. No wonder I liked it so much--I was a huge Laugh-in fan!

Boardwalk Resort is a shopping and entertainment area much like Downtown Disney which has the World of Disney store that sells toys from Disney movies. Some of the Toys are based on A Bugs life which stars flick, who is an ant. You are served by aunts at the 50's Prime Time Cafe.

Test Track and The tree of Life.

In Test Track you ride in really fast cars.

You also ride in really fast cars on the Disney Speedway with the Richard Petty Driving Experience

Richard Petty was cast as "The King" in the Disney/Pixar film "Cars"

"The King" of the jungle is the lion (though lions don't really live in jungles..)

And a lion can be found as a prominent carving on the Tree of Life!

Seven Seas Lagoon is a body of water which is connected to Bay Lake

On Bay Lake you'll find the Wilderness Lodge

The Wilderness Lodge features a restaurant called Whispering Canyon Cafe, where mock horse races are performed

Horse Racing is the theme at Saratoga Springs Resort

Saratoga Springs' main pool features a likeness of Donald Duck

Donald Duck and other Disney characters feature prominently at Fantasmic!

X Atencio is going to be on the Disney Legends Cruise

MouseTraveler is organizing the Disney Legends Cruise

MouseTraveler is a DVC owner at OKW!

(was that too easy??)

If so, I'll start over. If not:

Cinderella's Castle and Toy Story Midway Mania

I think other people should be encouraged to put up alternate solutions to the old ones if they have one. Is this game from somewhere, or is this a Marzyar original?

Marzyar original, And I've got the board game in the works...By in the works I mean I'm working on it, even though I might just go with a video game instead.

Disney World only? Disney parks? Disney movies?

World at first, you have to start somewhere.

Cinderella's Castle was originally designed to hold an apartment for Walt Disney and his family.

Walt's original park apartment was over the firehouse in Disneyland Park.

Theoretically (and actually?) housed in the Disneyland Firehouse was the fire truck, used to transport guests up and down Main Street USA.

The final scene in the Muppets 3D show in DHS is Kermit sitting on a fire truck

The Muppets 3D show requires the guests to wear 3D glasses, as does Toy Story Midway Mania, a 3D ride.

Casey's Corner and Kali River Rapids.

Casey's is named for the main character in "Casey at the Bat."

Casey at the Bat is a poem about baseball.

In major league baseball, wooden bats are used.

Wooden bats are manufactured via the logging industry.

Logging, specifically illegal logging, is the theme of the backstory at Kali River Rapids.

Next:

"Push" and World Showcase Lagoon

"Push" is a remoted-controlled, talking garbage can in Tomorrowland

You can play with (or at least used to be able to play with) remote-controlled boats outside of the Jungle Cruise

The Jungle Cruise has a joke about a crocodile named Ginger..."Watch out...Ginger snaps!"

You can buy Ginger Snaps at the Norway Pavilion on World Showcase Lagoon!

(Not sure if that's where Imagineer meant for us to arrive, but alas!)
