ADR Timing for Wishes/Illuminations?

Hey everyone (again) mickey ...anyway...lol I'm going to be there with my girlfriend in July, and we'll be eating at California Grill the night of her birthday after/during our day/night in MK. The night before that, we'll be in Epcot eating at Tutto Italia. I have ADR's as we speak for both of these dinners, yet I'm having second thoughts because I want to make sure we're up front and close for both Wishes and Illuminations. I have Cali Grill for 7:25pm, and Tutto Italia for 7:30pm. Watching the MSEP at 9pm isn't too too important...it's okay if we miss it. But I'd rather be down there on Main St. for Wishes.

She's Never Seen Wishes or Illuminations Before

lol, was that clear enough?

I just want to make we stake out a good spot for both after dinner rather than be inside eating when the fireworks start.

What's the best time to make ADR's, so that we have time to travel back to Main St./Around the World Showcase lake in time to watch the fireworks with a great view?

Thanks so much in advance!

What time is Wishes the night you have your ADRs for Cali Grill? if its any time around 10, you should have plenty of time to get back down there. MK is only a 10 minute walk from the Contemporary.

and you should be ok for your dinner at Epcot. You may not get a front row seat, right on the railing for Illuminations, but you don't really need one because prettymuch everywhere on the World Showcase that isn't blocked by trees is a good place to see it.

hope that helps a little!

We had A 7.30 table at the Rose and Crown once, actually got seated at about 7.45 and were just finishing desert as Illuminations started. We were sat right at the front too, perfect.

I was just reading about this today, actually! The Disney Food Blog recommended a reservation 30-60 minutes before the show is set to start. They also said that at the Cali you can keep your dinner receipt and come back at Fireworks time. They will bring you to a viewing area so you can watch. I hope that helps!

Thanks everyone. Sorry for bumping it up. I made our ADR for California Grill at 7:25pm. Wishes that night begins at 10pm. I'd love to be down there for the Electric Parade (at 9pm) but if we miss it, its no biggie. I just want to make sure we're down by the Walt/Mickey statue by 9:45ish.

As far as Illuminations, it begins at 9pm. I made our ADR at Tutto Italia for 7:30pm. It's not too important to us to be against the rails, I just want to make sure we have a clear view of the fireworks. We'll be by the International Gateway so we can quick slip out when it ends to walk back to BWI.

I know Cali Grill pipes in the music, and has a great view, but for someone like my girlfriend who practically has never seen Wishes before, I'd rather be inside the MK gates to see it up close.

Thanks again! awesome

I'll warn you that California Grill paces the meal very slowly. I think you'll be okay with a 7:25 ADR, but I'd let your server know you want to be done by 9:30. It's only about a 5-10 minute walk over to MK so you should have some time to get a spot. The server will be surprised you're not trying to stay to get the view from Cali grill, so let him know that you actually want to leave before the fireworks.

Tutto doesn't take nearly as long so I think you'll be fine there with a 7:30 ADR.
