Is Anyone Else Hooked on Downton Abbey?

Masterpiece Classic's Downton Abbey is awesome! They're in the middle of the second season right now. Is anyone else hooked?

If you haven't watched, check it out. First season is on Netflix. If you have, check out this hilarious send up.

YES!!!! I look forward to this every Sunday night. So refreshing to have an actual story to watch not some dumb reality show.

It's a must watch in this house, and for once we are ahead of you guys. We've had series 2 and the christmas special and are waiting for series 3 to start next September.

Love this show! Maggie Smith makes me want to be old, rich, and opinionated. laugh

Well, I know I can get two out of three . . .

We saw that on PBS the other day. It looked compelling, but I wasn't sure if I could get engaged with it in the middle. I wonder if I can watch it on demand.

CHRISTMAS SPECIAL??? We sooooo better get this!!

SNL did another hilarious spoof last week but I can't find decent video of it. Hulu has the episode in its entirety, and it's right after the opening monologue (host was Channing Tatum.)

We haven't started it yet but we are anticipating it! We don't have cable (just the free stuff) so we rely on Netflix Instant a lot and Dave noticed this on there the other day and has requested this be our next show (we just finished Mad Men). I had NO idea Maggie Smith was in it though. I adore her. Now we may have to start it tonight?

What's the premise of the show??

It's about an Arisocratic family and their servants. The whole class system is a focal point, how each interacts with the other. The Crawley family is in need of an heir since theirs perished with the TITANIC. A distant cousin is brought in to fulfill this role. He comes from the middle class and it is a huge adjustment. World War I really shakes up their world....so exciting!!!

The big question for us at the moment is did Mr Bates really do it?

I am absolutly addicted to this show! I love period dramas and this one has been done so beautifully, with great casting, characters and storylines! The Christmas special was great too!

No - Bates didn't do it. crossfingers

I have a sneaking hunch that Carlisle is involved . . . Not exactly sure why I think this. Maybe she violated the 'contract' and he made good his threat?

Or that Evil Mrs. Bates yuck is trying to stick it to her husband one last time . . .

Ha! We knew she was going to buy it in the end! But I don't think Bates did it. He's proven to be too honorable in other ways.

Our big question is the Patrick character - real or imposter? Is he gone for good, do you think? And who loses a British accent that quickly? Smile Although I suppose amnesia might do that to you...

I know the answer, but won't spoil it.
