Are you an Annual Passholder?

I've been an AP holder for a while, and I always make use of the hotel discounts especially. Who else is an AP holder, and do you find that you end up taking more trips than you would have otherwise??

Wife and I are AP holders but since we are also DVC members we never use it for hotel discounts but we usually average 4 weeks at the parks, per year normally in 2 week increments so for us its a no brainers that its the cheapest way for tickets and we always get the Deluxe APs that include water parks et al.

DVC members get a discount on the AP though right?

We've been AP holders for several years now and LOVE it. I think we definitely go to WDW more often that we would otherwise, though, so Disney's making their money back on us!

I think it should be the other way around. It should be that you intended, or were already, doing multiple trips and realized that getting an AP would be cheaper and more convenient. It certainly is the case for us. Once we started to go to WDW more than once per year (with each trip lasting at least a week), then getting an AP was chaper.

We do not make use of the AP hotel discounts because we are also DVC members and have never ran out of points for our stay. But we do make use of other AP benefits. I usually go to the AP webpage right before our trip to see what is the latest or current benefits and discounts I could get.

Between the AP and the DVC membership you can wind up with a ton of discounts. Typically I find that a lot of the DVC benefits are actually slightly less than the AP ones. Am I just missing the good ones?

Yes they do, and we do take advantage of it.

Actually, I find it the other way. I get larger discounts with my DVC membership, and there are places that give DVC discounts but not AP. At Fulton's, for example, I think I get larger discounts off lunch with DVC than with AP.

Vettelover and Zapperz,

As DVC members, do you typically take your vacations at the same times each year?

We try to go in Jan. or Feb. every year. This time we booked for 16 to 31 Jan of next year.

Yes, and no... Smile

Last year we went 4 times. This year, we are going twice. The only time that the two year's trip will be similar is the early December trip. Other than that, they're different.

Although, to be fair, the pin event this year is held at a different time of the year than usual. So yes, usually we go the week after Labor Day for the pin event, but not this year since it was moved to late June.

Is the Pin event done by Disney or enthusiasts?

We're passholders. And shocked at how much the price has gone up since we first became passholders! It's gone up at least $100!!

When we used to go for longer trips, we'd get the APs every year. Now, we just go for 5-6 days at a time, maybe twice a year, so I just get the 10 day no expiration hoppers. We aren't DVC members.

You're like right at the point where it is questionable whether it makes sense to get the AP or not. 10 days is the breakeven point I think. We usually just go ahead and get the AP figuring if we don't go again we didn't lose much and if we do have an extra trip we'll save a bunch of money. Although you can apply the cost of your ticket to an AP anyway right?
