Beauty and the Beast in 3D

I hear that B&B will be released in 3D next year and there's a big hub bub about it, but I don't get it.

Can someone tell me why this is such a big deal? I've seen that movie several times -- why do I want to go see it in 3D? The 3D movies I've been going to lately haven't been all that "WOW" -- except for Alice, which I doubt this film will approximate.

I agree! I'm over 3D. They really aren't that great and the glasses are annoying. I'll probably see it anyway though just to see it in theaters again.

Aw man! I didn't read the title closely so when I saw B&B I thought Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I would TOTALLY pay to see that in the theater, 3-D or not.

I am just thinking of how cool the 3D is in the B&B part is in Phillarmagic. Too bad they can't make it like that!

That would be amazing. I wonder...maybe...IS that what it is?

It's been a couple of years since I watched Beauty and the Beast, but I don't remember any elements being particularly screaming for 3D. If it's just that "depth" thing like they did with Bolt, who cares? Really, unless things are popping off the screen for me, I can use my imagination just fine with 2D and don't need to see depth. The pain of the glasses isn't worth it. But, when something's popping out, like in Philharmagic, I can't get enough of the 3D.

I loved the 3D in Alice in Wonderland, but I'm not sure how it would enhance B&B unless there were "popping out" things. Agreed.

My gripe with 3D is that I can't see it! mad I wear contacts most of the time and ironically it works a little better if I am wearing my glasses, but not by much. So thanks to the overload of 3D and the local theatre sometimes only showing the 3D version I am essentialy being robbed everytime.

Funny, there are a number of us here who can't see 3D (including me).

Wow. No kidding. They should have a policy where if you bring a note from the doctor saying you can't see 3D, you can pay the lower price! biggrin

I was thinking that part would be cool..but Philharmagic has totally spoiled me..unless the theatre pipes in scents I won't be impressed.
But..I'll totally go because I love B&TB

Bedknobs and Broomsticks is one of my favorites of all time. They could do some pretty cool 3D stuff with that! laugh

This has been dropped off the schedule of releases. I wonder what the deal is?

Perhaps they saw this thread and are going to go with Bedknobs & Broomsticks instead?
