Boardwalk Villas vs. Beach Club Villas

I think a showdown of these two is warranted, don't you? They're so close together, they offer a lot of the same perks -- what are the pros and cons in your opinion?

Beach Club is so close to Epcot, that's hard to beat.

True, but Boardwalk is very close to DHS and just as close to Epcot -- you've got a double whammy there!

For some reason, I feel like the walk to DHS from the BWV is much shorter than that from BCV. It's just more manageable for some reason.

These are the two resorts I want to stay at the most...probably won't happen until I win the lottery though!

That's why I love the fact that the Swan and Dolphin are right there! You can often get discounts that make those closer to the price of a moderate resort, but you still have the great walking distance to the parks.

I'd choose Beach Club Villas, I think, but actually for the quiet pool, not Stormalong Bay. The Dunes pool is really nice.

Well I'd say this on the whole walking thing:

When I stay at the Beach Club, I always walk to Epcot. When I stay at the Boardwalk, I still usually don't walk to DHS.

Board walk great for stumbling home after a night at Jellyrolls.
More lively than BCV at night.

Beach Club great for hanging at the cool pool, I don't care for the clown pools.
Scarey to me.

Both great for getting on the little boat to the parks.

Boardwalk, less points than Beach Club for DVC.

Boardwalk has better views from the rooms IMO.

Beach Club for the Cape May restaurant buffet. Yummy.

Beach Club has better self parking. Not as far a walk to the rooms.

Beach Club has less people if you want a quiet place to relax. Boardwalk
is open to the public so lots of traffic.

Boardwalk is easier to book a room than Beachclub.

Both great for Epcot events.

Have you done Jellyrolls recently? We've been unimpressed by our more recent visits, but we used to love the place. Maybe we're hitting the wrong nights?

We actually went on a Thursday night. It doesn't get hopping til around 10pm.

We enjoyed it alot but maybe that was because the tequila helped a little.

It was a girlfriends trip and we had a blast. When we got out around 1am the Boardwalk was a ghost town. I had never seen it so dead but it was a weekday. We went in mid October during Food & Wine festival.

Great breakdown. I had no idea Boardwalk was less expensive than BCV for DVC points. I wonder why? Just because of the Stormalong Bay pool?

Jellyrolls seems to swing from REALLY popular to pretty dead! I know that they've extended the no-cover-charge to cast members every night, so maybe that's making it a bit more crowded.

The boardwalk is really strange when it's so dead like that! I always enjoyed leaving Jellyrolls at closing and heading out into a sleeping Disney World. But then I'm hungry, and the lack of available food really stinks!

For a great points calculator check out this site:

http://www.dvcbyrequest.com/ awesome

Click on the link for the points calculator and pick the resorts you want to compare. I use it all the time. It's great.

Yup, lots of popcorn but no real food. I don't consider popcorn food. waiting

I need a lot more than Popcorn after a night at Jellyrolls. I wonder if you can bring food in. Also, do they still allow smoking there?

I don't remember seeing anyone smoking but don't remember if it is forbidden. Of course we were a bit "happy" so I could have missed something. confused

Last time I was in there, there was no ignoring the smell, no matter how happy you were. laugh

If you're a smoker you might not notice, otherwise it was pretty thick. I think they've prohibited smoking there since though.

The smoking thing was the only reason they weren't allowed to serve food. If they've prohibited smoking, I wonder if they've added some food items. That'd be GREAT!

I guess you can have "bar food" like popcorn and nuts if you have smoking, but that's it?

Beach Club has Beaches and Cream and the Kitchen Sink.

Boardwalk has Boardwalk Bakery.

But it really isn't that big of deal to walk between these two and share all the amenities.

Zz.

I really enjoy the walk around the Epcot resorts circle -- from Boardwalk to Beach Club to Yacht Club to Swan/Dolphin and back to Boardwalk. It's really a nice walk in the early morning, or at night watching Illuminations.

There are lots of benches to relax if you get tired of walking too and sometimes you get the nice lake breeze.

I started a new thread about the bikes there, since we've always wanted to try them.
