Can't Waitlist, Need Some Switching Resort Advice

I'm booked into Saratoga Springs for two nights in May. I've come into a couple of extra points that I can use, and I would like to see about switching my resort to one on the monorail or in in the Epcot area. Ideally I want to stay at the Polynesian, but I'm flexible. There are currently no resorts where I can move to, everything is booked.

First - I thought, "No problem, I'll waitlist!" However - because I have already paid for my DDP, and it was done with a credit card that no longer exists, I can't do that. When you waitlist they completely cancel your reservation before making the new one, and they don't have a way to transfer my DDP to the new reservation. They would have to refund the money to the original credit card, and then charge it again to transfer my DDP. That's just not going to work.

The woman I spoke with at member services did however tell me that they modified my reservation, that they could transfer my DDP with the modification. So - I need to check every day between now and my trip to see if there are rooms available and my reservation can be modified. I'm not particularly happy with this, but OK, I'll play what seems to me like a game I'm sure to get nowhere with.

Does anyone have any advice for me on when to check, or how often to check the availability to see if a room opens up? Does anyone know when the DVC inventory turns over on the website? If someone cancels their reservation does that show up right away, or does it just turn over at midnight eastern? Any ideas?

Well that sucks, surely they must have a better option than this? I would suggest looking at all times in the run up to the point in which the points would go into holding

Unfortunately, I have no idea how the timing works for cancelations and when those points become available to other members. I would assume that it's immediate because I think there's a warning that if you cancel, you may not be able to re-book.

laugh Which means for the next 70 days I just need to sit on the DVC Member site and keep hitting refresh. Or - I just deal with it and stay at Saratoga Springs. I actually love Saratoga Springs, I just thought that if I could transfer to the Poly of GF I would jump on it. I have to wonder what the odds are though to me pulling this off. I'm sure that people who are actually waitlisted would get in first, because I think that happens automatically.

I believe that's the way it's supposed to work. I have yet to have a waitlist request accepted and I know other people who routinely get their requests. Not sure what I'm doing wrong! LOL.

I keep checking a couple of times a day, but I'm not holding my breath for it. While it would fix one problem (lack of interesting breakfast spots near where I'll be) moving might actually create new problems in adding travel time to my destinations, and I'm already only there for 55 hours.

I may just give up on moving.

Since it's such a short time, have you considered getting a rental car so that you spend less time waiting for transportation? That would make SSR a more attractive option and would still keep your options open for breakfast.

I will have a non-packable ECV because I'm not quite strong enough to tackle the Parks without it right now. If I didn't, I would just grab an Uber for breakfasts.

As far as breakfast goes, I've been considering just packing some bagels and granola bars and using my extra DDP credits for either a late night meal, or to use Flower and Garden Outdoor Kitchens. I have a HUGE list of things to eat, so I'm sure that I can make it work.

So - I finally decided that switching just wasn't going to work for me. So I gave up, and switched my BBF Becks from the room I had booked her at AKL in September to a Lake View at the Poly!

Woot!!! I'm so excited for her I can't stand it. Really jealous it's not me, and I told her she would have to come back with a full review for the website. laugh

yeah
