Castaway Cay Shore Excursions

Disney private island offers several shore excursion options that include sun drenched beachy activities like snorkeling, jet-ski rental, stingray feeding, small boat rental, sea kayak rental, and parasailing. In addition there are private cabana rentals and massages in the beach available at the Serenity Bay adults only beach.

If you could add another grown up shore excursion to the list of private island activities, what would it be?

Hmmm. Well, I can tell you the private cabana are not all that. It's well over $100 for the day and it's like a little wooden hut that is far back from the water and it can block any breeze.

We did participate in a snorkeling adventure on CC and it was fun. We were taken by boat about a 1/2 mile from shore and snorkeled over a big reef.

I can't really think of anything else you could add. I mean, you are limited because it is a small, private island. I would pay to have a hammock all day! haha

Kayaking. All I would want to do is the kayaking, so I wouldn't need to add anything.

The stingray feeding is really fun! We did it when we went there. It was one of my favorite parts of the whole trip. You do get to snorkel with them for a while too! I loved it.

I would love to see them add something else at Castaway Cay that could be done as a shore excursion - I'm just not sure what I would want. See - I'm not really a beach person, and I'm afraid of fish (don't judge me) so though Castaway Cay is beautiful and awesome. For me there's only really the jet ski tour, walking around, taking a tram ride, and shopping. And there's not much shopping.

Oh!! I've got it! I wish that they would build an awesome pool complex so that I could soak up the sun and cool off without having to worry about sand and fish. I suppose Disney's answer would be that there's a pool on the ship. But it could be so much cooler if it was on the island!

Actually, building a small fresh (or filtered salt) water park on the island is not a bad plan. A lot of people don't like the beach and it would be good for families who don't want their little ones swept out by the tide.

A pool complex would be cool! They could throw in a few water slides for the "kids" Wink and maybe an in pool bar for the big kids that had bar stools and a tiki hut roof so you could get out of the sun but still sit in the water if you wanted. They could set water slides into a man made hillside setting amongst some waterfall type features to fit in better with the landscape so as not to take away from the beach with the big twisty turny colored chucks of plastic and metal.

No judgment...I'm absolutely terrified of fish and won't step foot into any beach/lake/river because of it!

I don't like them either. I don't want to feel anything swimming around my legs. Ick.

I watch video of people having a "fish pedicure", and just get totally grossed out! I don't want anything nibbling at me while I swim or walk in the water!

NHShorty and I will hit Castaway Cay in December. NHshorty has been there several times and even got to enjoy the first aid station once!

I got excited when I saw that there was jet skiing, but then I learned that it was a guided tour and it was very structured. So now I am looking for the place to sign up for water skiing behind the Dream.

I would wave at you from our verandah! I wonder if most people even realize how fast the ship is traveling the first night you're underway. It feels pretty smooth but the ship is hauling butt!

It is a guided tour, because you follow the leader. However I was in the back of our group of about 10 people and I was a good half mile behind the leader. No one was really worryign about what we were doing as long as it was headed in the right direction. I was able to go as fast or slow as I liked. You're supposed to keep a distance from the person in front of you and not get too close together, I waved another rider past me at one point so I could take a picture. We stopped in one location in between islands to gather back up, and the guide did some free diving to show us cool starfish that we passed around. I thought it was pretty dern fun - though if I had been more experienced with jet skis I might have been bored, I'm not sure. There is a follow boat that comes along in case of emergency, but I don't really remember him being around.
