Children Not Allowed At Victoria and Albert's

This appears tot be old news, but I didn't know it. I'm not really sure what the point is. I mean it says in the article that no one brings kids there anyway. I'm all for "Grownup" stuff at WDW, but I don't really know that you need to exclude kids from a restaurant.

"Only about three families a month ever brought young children to Victoria & Albert's, said Rosemary Rose, Disney's vice president for food, beverage and merchandise operations."

I know they're saying this as a why-not-just-ban-them-cause-nobody-brings-them-anyway, but it seems like some seriously bad press for not a big enough impact...it's DISNEY WORLD, people!! There will be kids there!! If you want to have a distinctly "adult" experience, go somewhere else.

What's interesting is I don't know of that many "upscale" restaurants in the "real world" that don't allow children. So apparently Disney World has a less permissive attitude towards children than just about everywhere else?

That being said I wouldn't mind a few more child-less places in WDW silly

Like I said, I don't think they should be banned, but if I were going to Vicky and Al's and dropping $300+ on dinner, I think I'd WANT to leave the kiddos behind and have a grown up dinner.

There are, in fact, other restaurants in the "real world" with age restrictions. Most memorably there are signs posted outside many Las Vegas restaurants that say "Jackets required and children under 5 not allowed."
The issue isn't only with disruptive children -- even kids talking in their "normal" voices can be disruptive in a restaurant like this. It is super quiet. People speak in hushed tones. Have you ever heard a child try to talk in hushed tones? It's deafening.

Indeed! Even "inside voices" are loud here, I'm sure.

Plus, you have to consider the experience the child is having. Dressing up? Eating weird food? Sitting still for 2 hours? I'd rather be at Simba's Clubhouse!

They don't all pretend to be "Victoria" and "Albert" anymore??!?

A lot of people have been curious about V&A, I'm glad we've finally got someone around with some expertise in the area.

I note on Allears that it still shows the foie gras on the menu. Does anyone know what's replaced it?
