Christmas with seniors.

So I'm heading to Orlando next week and taking my 74 year old Mom and 85 year old Aunt.

Could use some suggestions on Christmas activities.

So far I've come up with a few but could use some others.

Here's what I've got so far.

Osceola Heritage park Wonderland of lights.

Downtown Celebration snowing and carolling nightly

Visit the resorts to see the beautiful Christmas decorations.

Candlelight processional

Osborne lights

ICE at the Gaylord Palms

Holy land experience lights display

Any other suggestions?

I was going to suggest ICE. I hear that's great. Are you going right around Christmas, or earlier in the season?

Are you doing MVMCP?

I'm leaving on Monday the 6th. No I have to work the holidays. Hospital are funny like that. wheelchair
People actually have the gall to get sick on the holidays.

Doubt we'll do the Party since I'm going with my elderly Mom and Aunt. They really can't walk the parks so
it's a waste of a ticket but we'll do other things that they can do.

I would say do a tour of the monorail resorts and Wilderness Lodge and check out the Christmas decorations there. You can even buy gingerbread at the gingerbread house in the Grand Floridian!

Well, just reporting back.

We did do ICE. Very cool. It's brrrrrrr, freezing. 9 degrees. They make you wear a parka.

The Gaylord Palms hotel is a spectacular place. The one in Nashville though, is much nicer.
They had Christmas shows in the main atrium for free and we had dinner in one of the restaurants.
We got there around 3pm and stayed until sundown and when they turn on the lights the place just takes on another personality. So beautiful with the Christmas lights hanging from the glass atrium.

If you do go, if you eat at the restaurants, they waive the parking fee, just get your ticket validated.

Chris, which restaurant did you try? I've read good reviews of them.

Thanks for the tip! We've always wanted to do this. I look forward to hearing what you say about the restaurants.

We ate at Sam's Fish Camp in the Key West section.

It was real cute. They have the tables on what looks like a sailboat with a bar in the middle. Very nice themeing.

We were going to eat at the Mediterranean restaurant but we would have had to wait til 5pm and we were hungry so we decided to eat somewhere else. My friends ate at the Mediterranean restaurant the next night and said it was fantastic. They had great seats to see the Christmas show while eating.

There were some other restaurants that looked good. I guess I'll have to go back and try them all.

Bella, here's the link:

I've heard it's TOTALLY awesome, though I've never been - lots of friends here make it an annual tradition, though.

Bella,
It's 9 degrees so the ICE won't melt. You can only stay in there 30 minutes.
If you have time you should put it on you list for a Christmas time visit. awesome

Though I have not done ICE yet, my husband and I have stayed the weekend at Gaylord and ate at every restaurant and enjoyed the spa. We never left the hotel yet felt like we did. It was an awesome weekend getaway and everything including the food was wonderful muchlove
