yay yay so pleased you got to ride it I LOVE this ride, my mother is similar to you she does not like getting wet and in all the times we have rode Splash Mountain she has never refused - her only rule is "I'm not riding in the front"

If you luck into a middle or back seat and there is a person bigger than you in front my advice is just after the flash goes off for the picture duck and cover. This happened to me on a previous trip and the person in front took the splash and i stayed dry as .
The water canon just around the bend however is another matter entirely ...

Ach ya big fearty...I once saw a group of Japanese tourists all wearing ponchos in the blistering heat of July..Whit.!! eek

Sorry to disappoint, but I do too. I HATE the feeling of walking around in clothes are are clingy damp. I am also the pack mule as I have the ziplocks in my lap with everyone elses' stuff. Finally, I straighten my hair and one hit from that water canon and my hair begins to look like the character Annie, with more age and far less control...just not cool. I told DH I would just wear a shower cap but the look I got back indicated he wouldn't be on the same ride with me. LOL. Ah well, I will wear a hat this time, sit on the ponch and hold the sealed bags.

Personally I think SM is a waste of time. Yes, it has some good visuals and catchy music, but it's basically a boring ride with one good drop at the end.

eek eek eek eek Blasphemy!!!!

Glad you decided to ride it! SM is one of my absolute favorite rides! Sitting in the back doesn't guarantee you won't get wet, so my suggestion for the future is to wrap you lower half in your poncho since that seems to be the part you're worried about (jeans/pants getting wet) but leave your upper half exposed because getting a little wet is part of the fun! awesome

I also love this ride for the same reason I love the Tiki Room - the history and nostalgia. I saw Lincoln alone at DL when there too. This is the original Disney and the history of the movies and the feeling comes rolling in. Younger members might not have the same feeling, but I loved the stories of Briar Rabbit and such as a kid and so it's simply a few minutes of flash back.
