Disney Characters Bring People Together

I saw the CUTEST thing yesterday. We were at DD7's first soccer game, and little brother DS2 wasn't lovin' it, especially when strangers tried to chat with him. So I took him to an area where we could run around a little bit. Up to this point, he had been really sullen, but suddenly, he ran up to a little boy and started pointing at his shirt and chattering! His frown turned into a smile and suddenly he had a new best friend!

The boy was wearing a Phineas and Ferb tshirt mickey

Has something like this ever happened to you? You've been wearing or otherwise displaying Disney love, and struck up a conversation or made a friendship as a result?

I haven't had many conversation regarding Disney but have had many with Steelers fans.

When I went to Epcot for the first time in 2010, I was standing in line at Character Spot and struck up a conversation with the family behind me. The son was wearing a Steelers hat. I was solo that day (it was they day before my friends arrived), and the mom was kind enough to take my picture of me with the characters.

Mike ran the Marine Corps marathon a few years ago and got a nice long sleeve tee shirt that says marine corps marathon. He's real tall and built, so every time he wears it several people say "Semper Fi" as we walk by. Many people have tried to talk Marine talk w him in line also, and ask if he's a retired Marine. He always has to explain, no I'm not a Marine, just ran in the marathon. It's only annoying because he wasn't a marine and has to explain, so I say just don't wear the shirt to Disney anymore.

we had a similar situation happen at Universal and Disney. DH had a good friend who was killed in duty a few years ago. Every year we partake in motorcycle run in his honor and other fallen soldiers in our area. On our flight to Disney DH wore his shirt from the run and people in airport kept asking us about it. Then he wore it again in Universal and some guy came up to him thanking him for his service and asking all kinds of questions. It was hard to explain he didn't actually serve in the military.

also...

I have to wear a hat to work and it proudly displays starbucks on it. Often I have to stop at the grocery store or somewhere else on my way home. People constantly come up to me while i'm wearing my hat and drop complaints or ask questions. HA! laugh

When I first met my sister-in-law I wasn't sure how we would get along. She is a teacher and her husband has a suit and tie kind of job. I am a farm girl who works in nursing and had married her little brother. He is 16 years older than me so I am not sure how much older she is, like her son is 3 maybe 4 years younger than me, but anyway she had a Mickey Mouse cover on her phone. So I said "Oh do you like Disney Stuff?" Well her family is annual passholders and travel frequently to Disney. So we immediately had something that we both loved to discuss. So now when I book a Disney trip I call her and ask "Have you stayed at this resort?" "Have you ate at this restaurant?" Its just so nice that Disney can be loved by people from all kinds of backgrounds.

I got a purse at disney the last time we were there....People are always complimenting me on it...at first they just notice the bright colors and the patchwork and think it's a thirty one purse but then they notice the mickey's on it and think it's so cool and always want to know where I got it.

Most of my purses have Mickey on them in some fashion, so I get a lot of comments on them. It's a great way to strike up a conversation with me. Comment on my Disney 'whatever' and you've got me talking for hours!

I think Disney definitely brings people together!

My son is very shy but he tends to talk to kids that have Disney shirts on, LOL! Star Wars, Mickey, Phineas....

I always find it easy to talk to people that love Disney too! laugh

I love those convos with strangers about what hotel you like, your favorite ride, where you like to eat, and when you're going next! One of my classes to get my degree in Resort Management was based on Disney's approach towards guests! Basically everyone who took it loved Disney and we spent most of the class time sharing stories Big smile Disney really does bring people together even when youre not there

I stopped at the bank this morning. I am wearing my WDW sweatshirt. One of the tellers commented on my sweatshirt and told me WDW is her favorite place on earth. We didn't chat long but I asked her how often she goes and she told me at least once a year. I invited her to join us here.
