Disney Gift Shops

I was reading the What Rides Don't You Agree On? thread and I know that we all go into at least one or two gift shops when we're at Disney World. Now, one thing I've noticed is that Disney merchandise has gotten very similar lately. In the past, some stores would carry very specific or exclusive items, but nowadays it seems that everything looks pretty much the same in each store (except the Christmas stores and a few other specialty shops). Anyone feel the same way, or am I missing the variety?

I have noticed the same thing, and it makes me sad inside.

I think there are still the hold-outs, but I get your point. Mouse Gears isn't nearly as interesting as it used to be, and aside from gift shops at the individual rides and hotels, it's hard to find too much variety.

I haven't been in awhile but I do remember the last time I was there that there was less and less "specific" merchandise...I like ride specific merchandise the best...it makes me sad there is less than less of that.

I definitely think they're homogenizing their merchandise. It makes me sad like LifL.

I noticed as well! I searched high and low this past summer for something Country Bear Jamboree related (I love me some Al) and nothing! Every shop seemed to carry the same merch. which was disappointing. I was excited to find some fun Haunted Mansion apparel on the cart outside the attraction but that was probably the shopping highlight of my trip.
