Disney Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

yay I am super excited that I'll be staying at the Grand Floridian Villas I September. I had my name on a waitlist to get in either there or at the Polynesian Village. Honestly I didn't think for a second anything would clear up and I would get in. But I'm SUPER happy that I did. Until, that is, that I had a thought. Is it possible that people are canceling their Grand Floridian Rooms because of the whole alligator thing!?

Well, if they are, their loss is my joy. I thought I would post some pictures of the Grand Floridian to share my love of this elegant resort. Alligators and all.

Have you stayed at the Grand Floridian before? Share what you love most about the Grand!

I love the birdcage elevator - and the bird cage

You can't get this view anymore, it was taken from inside of the Wedding Pavilion when it still had clear glass.

There's no doubt that the Grand Floridian is a gorgeous resort but I feel like it's too classy for us laugh

Haha! We're staying here for 6 nights in the fall (first time) - I'll let you know if they kick us out as we are anything but classy. biggrin

I do love the Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast and it's a nice walk from the Poly. I just wish you could walk to the MK from here.

I have never stayed here but one of our favorites to stroll around before dinner at Narcoossee's. Can't wait to see what you think of the rooms. It is on my wish list.

We have only stayed once but we alerted Disney cyber-security to a email scam a few days before we visited and upon arrival they had upgrades us to club level, castle view. Easily the best room we have ever stayed at. Of course, now we are spoiled. DGF has the best off park view of the fireworks, and that includes the catwalk at California Grill. Christmas decoration are a must and if you have the opportunity to dine at V&A you must show up an hour early and have spirits at Mizner's and listen to the music, band or piano. Enjoy your stay, you will have many stories and memories to share.

We've never stayed there but have eaten at 1900s Park Fare for both breakfast and dinner and always enjoy exploring while we wait for our table. Beautiful! Can't wait to see all your pictures!

We stayed at the Villas at Grand Floridian on our last trip, in a handicap accessible deluxe studio. The room was lovely, but the functionality was odd - looking back I think it was because it was a handicap accessible room. The closet drove me absolutely bonkers, no drawers, short hanging rod, really difficult for me to get to the safe, and I had to remove the pack-n-play and luggage rack from the closet just to get my clothes in. I had really enjoyed my previous stays in the regular guest rooms at the Grand Floridian, but I was a bit disappointed in the Villas. Overall I felt like they were a complete afterthought and didn't offer the same nearby access amenities that other DVC locations do. I don't think I'll spend the extra points to stay in these Villas again.

Beautiful Room visually, with a fantastic view. #1311 - Standard View Handicap Accessible Studio Villas at Grand Floridian Deluxe Studio Villas at Grand Floridian Deluxe Studio Villas at Grand Floridian Deluxe Studio Villas at Grand Floridian Deluxe Studio Villas at Grand Floridian Deluxe Studio

I hated this closet, and it was the only one. I actually had to call the front desk to find the safe because it was so akward to get at.
