Disney parking charges increased and new annual pass that includes photopass

Disney have today increased their parking charges from $17 to $20 per day.

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/parking/

They have also released new annual passes which include downloads of your photopass pictures.

I have just bought an AP but it won't be activated until next month so I've emailed Disney to ask what the deal it for us, will we get the photopass or not.

We just renewed our Florida Resident AP last month. Now it's almost $200 more for the same thing. Glad we did it then.

Looks like the only real difference for what we selected is the addition of PhotoPass downloads. Not the biggest draw for us. Of course, Florida Residents AP got a complete overhaul - lots of changes depending on which pass you buy, so we'll have to reevaluate next time.

My bigger complaint is the fact that Tables in Wonderland went up 50% - have to renew that one next month.

Yes, I have just found out about TiW and I'm mighty ticked off. I know a cm who said they had been told not to push it lately as there were 'big changes' coming to it. Yeah big changes being that it was going up by 50%.

Now we know what that survey was all about 5 months ago. Pay extra for an annual pass if you want to go the end of December and March. (DVC can also purchase the gold pass, which has blackout dates. The following blockout dates apply to the Disney Gold Pass: December 17, 2015 thru January 1, 2016 and March 19, 2016 thru April 1, 2016, December 19 thru 31, 2016. January 1 and 2, 2017)

Well, it's not as if we didn't have an advance warning that something like this would happen.

We won't get another annual pass till the big meet-up next year. In the meantime, I'll have to check these passes out. Since we almost always travel during low-crowd seasons, maybe we can get by with the least expensive pass.

Looks like gold pass is going to work for us, which means that Benn's pass will cost us only $20 more than mine did. Now here's the tricky part. I wonder if I can have the AP with photo pass assigned to me since i will be doing some park days without Benn and have mine reassigned to him...

Off to do some calculating to see if TiW is still worth it for us this year.

I emailed Disney earlier as we have just purchased our AP, I'd like to get the photopass and I was told I could upgrade to get the free photopass. Have you already used yours? As if you have I'm not sure you could have it reassigned... But could you 'take him with you' to Disney? Scan his band? Or if you are linked as family it might show in his photopass anyway...

I'm actually happy with the new changes to Florida resident tickets. DH has a Florida resident AP(now gold) because parking is included and I have a FL resident seasonal(now silver.) Now that the seasonal(silver) will also include free parking, we'll both get that one and we'll save about $150 when we renew. That $150 can buy quite a few new pins awesome

Neither of us have activate our new AP yet. I've purchased and linked mine, but I haven't even purchased Benn's yet. We are linked as family, but unless I use one of my fingerprints for Benn's access, I don't think it will register that he is in the park. Or do you think I can just scan his band at photo pass locations? Oooh...that might work. But I bet it would have to be activated first, which means that he'd have to visit guest relations and activate his AP in person before I could use it for photo pass I think. (Here's a thought...after his AP is active, can I use Benn's Magic Band to get double fast passes when I'm alone? I don't think that FP is linked to park admission, right?)

Ahh see I know with fastpasses and AP, you can set them up and use them without physically checking in and doing the finger print to get in so I would think photopass will likely be the same... But if you are linked as family likely it won't matter anyway.

I may book DVC rooms during the black out dates and go to universal and sea world. Black that out Disney.

I would ask a Disney concierge if they can wrangle up some discount Universal/Seaworld tickets! biggrin rolling

Ha ha - I would enjoy that, but only if the suits are around.

RESOLUTION: YES! You can reassign an unused AP to another member of your party without using your fast pass selections. My original AP has been reassigned to Benn and I have one of the new AP's that includes Memory Maker that I will activate in November. Hooray!!

On a frustrating note, when DVC migrated to their new website last weekend, it kicked my old MDE problem back into active again and my cousin's tickets have disappeared from the user interface screen. Disney still has them, but I can't see them. It's not that I have concerns about my trip being ruined because Disney will fix it if something bad happens, but I'm annoyed that this technology is STILL so glitchy. I'm starting to think that Turbo from Wreck-It-Ralph programed MDE.

I've have since read on another forum (sorry, cheating on you wdwfgu but it was only that one time laugh ) that even if you have bought the old AP but not picked them up, they will be automatically the new platinum ap's! They don't even have the option to make them the old passes on the ticket system.

Seriously, me too! Or just do a resort only trip. That would work. Disney Springs, etc. Smile
