Disrepair in MK

I was reading something the other day - I can't remember where - about the state of disrepair of some attractions in MK, especially on Splash Mountain. Maybe it was the link that Jess provided about the new Winnie the Pooh interactive queue. Anyway, the poster was talking about the bad state of the log boat she was in, and that several of the animatronics weren't working. I haven't been on Splash Mountain for sometime. Have you noticed it being in bad shape? Another reader talked of Buzz Lightyear being rough, with broken guns and whatnot. It was fine when I last rode it.

Do you think that MK's being kept up well, or that it needs some TLC?

In other news, Al Weiss has announced his retirement, and Tom Staggs is restructuring the leadership for parks. Do you think this will help, if there are problems?

When we rode Buzz Lightyear last November we didn't have any problems with it but I did make the comment about how it used to be the hot thing but now that we have Toy Story Mania it doesn't seem to impressive anymore even though my father in law still loves it and rides it several times a trip. In regards to Splash Mountain...I wouldn't be able to tell you cause I don't know if i've ever ridden it and if I had it was years ago when i was a kid but hubby rode it back in 2009...so he might be able to provide some insight on it. All I know is that Disney is supposed to be a magical place and for the money that we pay for it I would hope they would keep things looking nice.

I actually have a lot of faith in Tom Staggs and I am expecting some very interesting things coming in the future.

I always swear that my gun is broken on Buzz Lightyear but I think the issue might be with the operator wink

Now that I think about it I remember some stuff needing to be fixed and just taken better care of last December but I can't think of specifics right now.

There has been a couple occasions where one of the guns in our orbiter would not work, but I had Brooklin at the time, so it wasnt that big of a deal. As for Splash Mountain. Not sure... we rode it last year, and I dont remember it looking bad? So not too sure...

But I do think some of the stuff in MK needs some work. Whether its repair, revamped.... something... to me its losing its Magic. When my son tells me he likes Epcot the most... then ya got to do something about it in my opinion.

I'm surprised to hear this one on hand and then not on the other. The Parks are open so many hours and every single day, I guess there is a chance that something will be broken. The rides and attractions are going practically nonstop. I hope the maintenance stays with it or that would be awful.

I do still like to ride Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin...but if the line is super long or we don't have a FP, we usually pass. We already know my BIL is going to win! waiting

I believe this is the story... State of the Magic Kingdom Basically because of the fantasyland expansion and the Tiki fire nothing can go off-line for need repairs due to capacity issues.

My theory has been that because there is so much and so many people that it takes a massive amount of planning to keep things going and up to date, and at any given time of my visit there will be always something that is next in line to get updated. I'm also guessing nothing is all that easy to update (except for a broken laser gun at BLY!) - planning must be pure hell!

Compared to the few other parks we have visited though, I think Disney is above any of them in terms of trying to keep things updated as best they can.

Agreed--have you ever been to Carowinds (or any park like that?) I have seen (I LOVE JOHNNY) written in sharpie on just about every seat and every queue line in that park..it's not always Johnny per say, but you catch my drift.

For being the busiest park in the world I would say its keeping up pretty good.

You know, that's a great point. I think the problem is...I never go to another park. Ever. mickey
