Do you make room requests?

I know it used to be common practice to fax in your room request; do you still do that? If not, do you call and add requests onto your reservation?

The only requests that i make are the ones at the time of check in, such as a Quiet room, close to the lobby, or a certain building and I have found that they are almost always granted. In fact I think they are more likely to be granted if you ask at check in, rather than upon first booking.

How funny - when we first started going I did the whole fax-in-your-room-request thing. Nowadays, outside of the King bed, we don't ask fro much other than a quiet room. Sometimes, though, Joe will call ahead of time if he wants something specific (like a particular floor or building) and ask for it, and we usually get it.

Any suggestions for requests we should make at CBR? We're making a little surprise trip this Friday (surprise for our DD.) We've only stayed there once and we were waaaayyyyy at the end. Quiet, but definitely out of the way. But our fave thing about the place is the hammocks, so we didn't really mind.

Did your fax in the request thing actually work?

If you're not staying in a preferred room, request something in Martinique, Jamaica 45, or Aruba 51. Those are going to be the closest to the Old Port Royale and main pool.

Oh gosh...do people still use fax machines?
Anyway..we never faxed things..I never had access to one and didn't really care enough. Now if I have a request I'd just note it on my reservation or tell them when I get there.

I agree with what Admin said. We stayed in the Jamaica section, which was across the bridge but still close enough to walk. I'd pull out a map of the resort and check for the sections closest to the main area if you don't want to walk as far.

We walked the path that goes around the whole resort, and those ones at the furthest end are waaaaaaaaaay out there. Too far away even for us.

It usually did! I wonder if I saved any of them...I'll have to look!

Haha - hardly! I used the ones at work (shhh!). I can't remember the last time I faxed anything....it's been years!

I just rang up the disney reservation line and made the requests that way (I requested a king size bed, high floor, and a lake/garden view as oppose to parking lot!). I'm yet to find out if any of them work, but to be honest once I'm there I know I won't care. I will be too busy doing this yay yay yay yay yay yay yay to notice my room.

I just faxed a request in last Friday. I will let you know if it works.

We have a reservation for a King Size Bed, which is typically only the corner rooms at POFQ. Should be nice no matter what!

I'm trying the "at the front desk" method. If I can lure DH away from the automated check in thingamabob.

Anyone have suggestions for a room request for POP? I have read that 60's lake view or 70's rooms are pretty good..

Are you looking for quiet or easy access? I think it was Brad who had some complaints about rooms overlooking the pools for getting their sleep.

The computer pool at the 80's and 90's buildings is usually quieter than the other pools.

Hi! Welcome to WDWFG! It really depends on what you're looking for at Pop. If you want quiet, pick a room in the 70's section toward the lake -- it's not next to any pools, and you're far away from the hub-bub of the lobby/dining building.

If you want convenience, choose a room in the 60's building or a room in a 70's building close to the lobby (or pay extra for a preferred room). These will be close to lobby, transportation, food, and the pool. mickey

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm more thinking about the quiet factor, having to walk a little more to get to the buses and such is not a big deal for us.
If I can get a lake view room that would be awesome.

We had a lake view room in the 90's once that was amazing..it was right on the corner and tucked out of the way. I loved looking out at the lake..we couldn't see anything but lake and trees!! (At least I think it was 90's..I may have to look at a map).

Haha! Thanks. I think if I decide to take the chance and ask for a specific room I am going to go with 70's lake view. We'll see, haha.

I'm feeling really bad. The last time we went we had a great room and I can't for the life of me remember where it was. We got moved so I'm not sure it wasn't a "preferred room" though.

I put in a request on my reservation for the 50s section at Pop. I loved walking by Lady and the Tramp every day when I was there last year.
