Yes they do. In fact they have a partnership. In addition to:

Disney is not in the habit of leaving money on the table. I'm surprised they don't accept gold doubloons!

Brad you bring up an interesting point, I wonder how fast Disney would accept it, at face value, if someone came in with a gold Kruggerand coin. I beleive it is considered legal tender although probably not in the US. I bet they accept Canadian money and Euros and I would assume the are more than acceptable to Brazillian currency.

We can use UK credit cards in the US and withdraw USD from ATM's, so we don't bring much GBP with us (lots of USD though).

I imagine the money-changing lobby was not very pleased about the introduction of credit cards. We carry more cash when we travel than we do when we're at home by a wide degree, but still not that much. I always use my CC if I can so I get miles.

I'm not very "economical" but why is Discover not taken at so many places?
I had a friend who only used Discover because of the cash back bonuses but he always had to ask if they took the card and very rarely they did!

All the credit card companies take a cut of each transaction. I think some vendors don't like the terms that Discover operates under.

Ahh..well that makes sense..
Now..school me on this one..American Express..isn't that the one that you aren't allowed to have a balance on? Like you have to pay it off every month? This might sound bad..but what's the point of that? Just to establish credit?

Hmm... I had an AmEx student card (that was still valid long after I was a student) that I carried balances on. I wonder if it was just because it was a student card?

American Express is not a credit card by definition. At one time, you did have to pay the balance every month with no exceptions. Now though, there are certain charges (e.g. anything travel-related) for which you can carry a balance. The biggest benefit is there NO credit limit in addition to certain perks for having a gold or platinum AMEX.
