DVC Annual Pass Surprise fine print

So - I was thrilled to learn last fall that DVC members could purchase an annual pass for $300 off the regular price. I purchased two of them and am not planning to activate them until our April trip.

Today I was reviewing the portable perks to get geared up for Friday's trip and noticed a surprise condition for the purchase. It notes that a DVC member can purchase up to eight passes per year for people in their household - they must have the same address as the member. That was never disclosed that to me when I purchased over the phone through DVC in December. My problem is that the other pass I purchased is for someone who doesn't live with me.

Has anyone else run into this? I'm not sure what to do at this point.....any ideas?

So, you purchased a DVC member pass for someone who is not a DVC member, and is not part of your household? Is the person a dependent of yours living at other address (such as kid at college)? *Could* they be?

Hrmm... I'm really not sure what to tell you, the "responsible advice" is probably to give member services a call.

Sounds to me like you need to find out what sort of ID/address confirmation is needed when you pick up the passes.

We did this same thing when we went in November. We purchased a pass for my mom who is not a DVC member and does not live at the same address as us....We like you didn't find out about this till we got the passes in the mail. So I called disney and talked to someone about it and he said to just bring a piece of mail with her name and my address on it and it would be fine. So we had to switch her cell phone bill and start having it mailed to our house. When we went down and got the passes they still looked at her ID but took the address off the phone bill. Now i'm not saying that all cast members will be this easy but the ones we worked with we're fine with it

Thanks Jess. We didn't receive ours in the mail - we were told to pick them up in person in April. I'm just glad I saw the "fine print" prior to that trip. We'll have to work something out I guess before the April trip. Thanks folks for the feedback.
