DVC condo Assoc. meeting news..

The DVC condo Assoc. meeting was held a few days ago, (8Dec.) and 2 or 3 interesting items came to light besides the GF addition. The first of which was that DVC members will now be able to purchase TIW memberships WITHOUT having to have an annual pass.
Second: Points re-allocation will be coming in 2013.
Third: more TV channels will be added to the lineup including FOX news channel.
Fourth: as already noted there will be a GF addition for DVC.
There were more changes forthcoming but they haved escaped from my memory, and besides they were not quite as important in my humble estimation.
Any thoughts on any of these?

Very excited about the Tables in Wonderland thing! Do you know when the TIW without an annual pass is supposed to come online? I'm holding a Bridal Tea at the Grand Floridian next June and that may save me a ton of money!

Love the TIW. Think that will be nice. More TV Channels is a plus, but we usually just have either the iPad on or Disney Channel. Would love Nick for the kids, but that would never happen! lol

I was unable to find any further info on the starting date for TiW BUT rumor has it wink that Zapperz attended the meeting and maybe he could be of some help here.

I was at the meeting. There were no detailed info about TIW. So all of us just simply have to wait for this.

My biggest amazement at the additional channels was "Fox News"???!! This is something that a lot of DVC members were clamoring for? I don't get it. What am I missing here?

I actually had a question to ask at the meeting, but when it was mentioned that I can e-mail the question, I decided to do that in writing instead. Besides, I just got off the ship that day, and I still had an occasional "light-headed" feeling as if I'm still on the ship.

The thing that I am also a bit puzzled is the explanation on why the property taxes on DVC units continue to go up, while property value in many parts of Florida went down. The taxes were based on the value of the DVC units, i.e. for what they were selling for. Since the selling prices of these units continue to go up, the property assessment also went up. But the selling price is set by DVC. So essentially, DVC itself is causing the property taxes to go up! They continue to raise the price per point, and thus, continue to raise the taxes levied on DVC properties.

In any case, the question I wanted to ask them was more of a request. Currently, if you bank points into the next use year, and then it turns out that you need to borrow points from that next use year, the points you will borrow from will come the next use year, and cannot be from the banked points. So, for example, my use year starts in April, but I have to bank my points by December. So say I banked all my points in November. Suddenly, I decided that I want to stay at a DVC resort in February, before the start of my next use year. I now must borrow from that next use year. But these points will come from that use year, and not from the banked points. I can only start using the banked points for stay after the start of the use year.

The is a matter of accounting practices, but it makes no sense to the rest of us. These banked points must be used during the following use year, or they will be lost. It would be advantageous if they are the ones that get used FIRST, no matter if it is from borrowing, or from use within the use year. I wanted to request that they reconsider their current policy on this.

Thanks so much for the information!

Zz. I completely agree with the points banking thing. It can be annoying at best. I also hate that I have to decided if I'm going to bank my points by July when they don't expire until December. Overall though, I love my DVC, even though there was a whole new set of loopholes I had to learn to deal with.
