DVC Membership Cruises

I see the Disney Dream is in loading up for the DVC Membership Cruise, that leaves later today. Has anyone ever been on a membership cruise? Do you know what the big difference is between that, and a "normal cruise" (other than the extra points)? I was told they're all inclusive, but still trying to figure out what that really means.

Disney Cruises are always all inclusive, except for the things that aren't (adult restaurants, alcohol, spa, castaway cay rentals). laugh You don't have to pay extra for dining or entertainment on board.

The member cruises are nice because they're supposedly discounted, I don't find that to be true though. Maybe they're discounted compared to high season, but not compared to regular season. I cruised for 105 points per person in May, the Member Cruise was using 149 points per person for the same room/same # of nights. I think for DVC Members getting a better deal on points is really about picking a slower time of year. I have heard that there are sales during the member cruise to add on more points to your DVC account, and that you get more special gifts left in your room than on a regular cruise. However any time you sail on points DVC leaves special gifts in your room. I don't really see any advantage to sailing on the member cruise compared to another date.

Just my $.02

Id LOVE to go on a cruise... but man... the points cost sooooooo much to go! We could visit Disney 3 times if we did it right for a cruise trip. Idk... id like to someday... but may have to pay out of pocket for it to do it.

If you don't mind taking the kids out of school. You can get great deals on DCL. We did a b2b on the Dream last year one ocean view cabin and the second half a verandah cabin pretty cheaply. Once you cruise DCL you'll wonder what took you so long. I love the parks but will more than likely sail a week and stay a week instead of my usual twice a year park visit.

I couldn't agree more with what Dee has said here. If you've ever even thought that you might like to go on a cruise, go on a Disney Cruise. They're really fantastic and you still have that Disney safety net of quality and Disney entertainment.

It was being able to pay for the cruise on points that finally got me to go and I had to wonder what on earth had taken me so long. I find the cost comparable to staying in a deluxe resort or villa and having the deluxe dining plan. So depending on how you travel it's not shockingly more. It is more than other cruise lines, but it's so worth it.

I will absolutely continue cruising in the future, maybe not every year (because we do shorter vacations usually 4-5 nights) but I'll look forward to every cruise we do and book the next one while on board!
