The Fabulous Four take Flight - Trip Report

Hi all!

so I'm finally ready to write my trip report after being back nearly a month it was an amazing trip and I would go as far as saying its up there as one of the best so lets get this party started!

so on this trip there was me, mam, uncle and auntie (see picture below in that order left - right)

Sunday 20th September
We estimated to leave between 1pm-1.30 and we left just after that, being a Sunday traffic was very light and we made good time getting to Hartshead services and had no hiccups or delays which was perfect, we also had a Florida playlist which we sang to all the way down! We stopped at Hartshead and had KFC we all had different things but really KFC is KFC! But it was beautiful none the less.

After we had finished we set off for the last part of the journey to the airport me and my mam were in 1 car and auntie & uncle were in another we decided not to follow each other and they left before us and we would just meet at the hotel, journey was going well no issues etc. until we got onto the airport grounds. Now last year when me and mam went they were doing roadworks but we had no issues now this year the works were finished so you would think that made it easier right? So I kind of took the wrong road but I ended up on the road I was supposed to be on so luckily no delays but as we pulled around the corner I could see the hotel but not how to get to it and I ended up on a slip road that as soon as I was on it and couldn't get off it I knew it was wrong! As I headed up the ramp I realised we were heading into a multi-story car park and started to panic but we also realised that this was also the drop off/pick up for terminal 1 phew so we just drove through and came out the other end and learnt the lesson for next time " don't take the slip road!!! As we came back around to the roundabout we happen to notice 2 cars in front of me was auntie and uncle so we quickly rang them to make sure they didn't go up the slip road which they didn't but when we all arrived safely at the hotel I gathered they had been somewhere they shouldn't have been so we all had an adventure! We unloaded the bags and headed to check in which was very smooth, me and mam had stayed here last year but auntie and uncle hadn't so this was new for them, they seemed to like it! We were on the 3rd floor and rooms were opposite each other which was perfect we parted ways while we sorted our bags and unpacked what we needed and showers etc. and mam found the best channel ever it was S Club 7 day (I'm not sure if S Club 7 made it over to the states but they were a cheesy group who at the time were very popular with young ones and had very catchy dance moves) so this was like a perfect thing to happen so I had a sing and dance before hopping in the shower! We met back up in our room after an hour or so for wine and snacks, my auntie is a nervous flyer so we thought this would be a good way to distract her, we could hear planes but never see them but still every time we heard them she would get up and check! I had a little surprise for them I made them goodie bags for Disney! They all had a set of park maps, something "Disney" (mam had sunglasses, auntie had flip flops and uncle had a t-shirt), I also had badges made for each of them (and one for me!) which everyone seemed to love, the girls had frozen shower caps, everyone a little can of alcohol for each, mini fan, waterproof wallets for phones etc. and sweets, they all seemed to love them and I was so pleased as I was worried they would all think I was crazy!!! We took some interesting pictures (I think that was the wine)

After the wine had been drank and the food consumed we went to bed as we had a HUGE day ahead of us the next day!

Monday 21st September

We were up about 6.30am to get ready for our flight it started to rain which was typical seen as I had a long skirt on! But with the help of hoodies we managed to get the cases into the cars and checked out of the hotel with great ease, my auntie and uncle decided to follow us because I was very confident I knew where I was going whereas they weren't.......this turned out not to be the case I obviously follow directions better when the place is full of roadworks! Seen as I have Bluetooth in my car we phoned them so we could contact with each other, now this is where my navigating skills seem to fail because I ended up back on the motorway heading out of the airport! Oops we got back in and everything was going more smoothly now we approached where we went in before, now last year there was signs for meet and greet car park but these seem to have disappeared, we all agreed that the meet and greet car park would be at departures so off we went...........nope! this took us up to the drop off area (different terminal to yesterday!) so up we went and we came down and passed where we needed to be (was on the other side of the road and we couldn't turn into it) so when we came to the roundabout we all agreed again it would be the last turn off.........nope! We were back where we had just been in drop offs! As we found out by the 3rd time on this roundabout we actually found out it was the second to last turning and you go under this ramp.....who knew!!! I felt awful by now because I had been so confident I knew where I was going but thankfully they all were fine just pleased to be where we needed to be! We got to check in and thankfully all bags were under weight limit! Once we were finished I can't speak for anyone else but I could hear the cocktails calling my name just had to clear security! My auntie was a little concerned as she has a pacemaker so she knows she has to go somewhere else but they couldn't have been nicer to us they made us all feel at ease and we could see she was being taken care of, this was easy........yeah right! 2 small hand cases and a handbag got pulled to one side to be inspected, 1 of the cases had a video recorder which we had forgotten to take out which was solved easily, out other case was saying there was something sharp in the case and even the security couldn't see what it was......it was the corner from our daily calendar! Then the handbag was saying there was something sharp like darts!!! No that would be a pack of pens but on the scanner it did look suspicious! So once we were all finished we headed for food (and booze for me!) we went to Frankie and Benny's and had breakfast burger (me), breakfast bagel (mam), scrambled eggs on toast (uncle) and traditional breakfast (auntie) and I had a pitcher of cocktail called woo woo yummy!

Clearly I was too hungry and thirsty to take pictures of everybody else's food!
All the food was fabulous and we were all very full and happy, as we headed out we heard an announcement that was our flight! So off we went and it was chaos beside our gate! They only called certain seat numbers forward but everybody had just formed a huge line so as we discovered we were in the wrong one! I did take a picture of the plane but it was raining so much you can't really see it, we were on Barbarella today! (All virgin Atlantic planes have names so always make an effort to see which one it is!)

We got on settled and before long we were taking off which was painless! We got served some wine which always goes down well! We got served our meals which were some kind of curry and pulled beef, I very rarely eat plane food so mam had both mains and said they were lovely and I ate both puddings yum! We also got some more wine and mini ice creams!

I watched 2 films while on board one of which was Inside Out, I hadn't seen it before today and I won't put any spoilers on but I cannot say enough good things about it I laughed, I cried I literally went through the emotions!!! Haha I caught up on notes for this trip report! We had afternoon tea which was very nice I didn't eat the wraps but mam said it was some of the best plane food she has ever had! I ate the crisps and shortbread that came with both!

I decided to watch Pitch Perfect 2 but we started to land before I could finish it I wasn't bothered because I was now in FLORIDA!!!!! we disembarked the plane and headed to immigration now last year we went right to fast track lane but mam was adamant we had to go left so we did and ended up in the regular line it took forever............. We eventually got through and collected our bags, as we headed to put them back on to be taken to the main terminal the woman was very rude and was trying to say we should take them with us, we explained we were going to get magical express to take them for us when we checked in with them and she was saying they wouldn't but I had rang and confirmed that as long as we gave them our baggage collection numbers they would pick them up, in the end we had to tell this woman we couldn't manage the bags (which we couldn't really) and we would pick them up at the other end so she would put them on!, we got on the transfer to main terminal and headed to magical express, once we reached there I double checked with her that out bags would get picked up and we were right they would! We went through to wait and I think we waited about 5mins before we got on the bus, I don't think it was very busy we were the last stop but we got to visit Old Key West, Saratoga Springs and Port Orleans French Quarter before us we didn't mind we were happy to be there! We got to check in and everything went great we had all our requests which was fantastic, connecting rooms, ground floor in Arcadian house we couldn't be happier! My auntie and uncle didn't realise that there wasn't a kettle in the room which we thought might be an issue but it turned out it wasn't really, we all went over to riverside mill to get refill mugs and I needed food, I went with make your own pasta and magic cookie bar which I had been dreaming about for a year! It was as magical as ever, we all headed back to the room and had an early night; we were very tired after a looooooooong day of travelling!

Tuesday 22nd September

First Disney day of the holiday!!! We were up early around 6.30 we were up and ready but weren't sure where auntie and uncle were so we waited and we eventually got on our way and arrived at Magic Kingdom about 9am so we missed the welcome show and I was a little gutted but we decided we can do this next year! (If we don't do it the first day we will never do it!!!!) We stopped and got our first photopass picture of the trip!

Our (well mainly me!) first stop was Starbucks! Auntie and uncle weren't going to get anything but the smells swayed them so we split 2 sandwiches between us and got 4 drinks and headed to the seats beside the plaza to just take it all in, it was a beautiful morning and it was the best way to start the trip!!!

We then headed up to Frontierland for our first ride! Now my auntie and uncle didn't ride many rides on their first trip so there was a lot of new on this trip, anyway our first ride was Big Thunder Mountain and they loved it just as much as we do!!!

I tried to convince them to go on Splash Mountain but we had FP for it later in the trip and I'm sure the wait was 30-40mins so we decided to skip it, we headed down into Frontierland and decided to pop into Country Bear Jamboree there was quite a wait but we didn't mind, me and mam only discovered it last year and we just fell in love with it so we knew we had to show it to my aunty and uncle! I think they liked it they didn't not like it! Haha

my personal favourite above!
We headed to Fantasyland but as we were passing through Liberty Square they mentioned how much they loved the riverboat and really wanted to have a ride on it, we had to get to a FP but I promised we would ride it later, we headed off in the direction of Peter Pan's Flight for our FP which they really enjoyed, while we were in the area we decided to ride It's a small world.....it was their favourite of the day I believe!!!! They loved it which I was so happy because we really enjoy it too!

We then walked over to Mickey's Philarmagic which we all enjoyed me and mam love it so much!, we then had FP for Under the Sea which probably wasn't needed but we used it anyway and got straight on and they loved it!

We had a while before our reservation for Be Our Guest so we walked to storybook circus and had a look around and there was no wait for the Dumbo's so off we went, none of us had rode the Dumbo's since they moved and it's a lot of years since me and mam been on so it was a good experience to share with them!

We slowly walked back around to Be Our Guest for our reservation, I'll admit I was nervous about this because me and mam adore here and we would eat here every meal if we could I just love everything about it but I know some people love it and some just aren't bothered so I had booked for every Magic Kingdom day but didn't want to cancel on the off chance they wanted to come everytime! Now I had pre-ordered food but I had cancelled the reservation to book an earlier slot but the slot disappeared and luckily I managed to get my slot back in time but I forgot to go back in and pre-order the food so we had to stand in the line outside in the baking sun! It was HOT! And once we got inside we found my order had been saved so we could have gone to the pre order! Anyway we got inside and they were just blown away as we were so they were sold on the place itself now just the food we all had braised pork and we had a selection of cupcakes, masters, strawberry and lemon...........

Verdict " they LOVED the food in fact a direct quote from my auntie was "I'm having this everytime I come here.......we are coming back aren't we?" which I responded with yes we have quite a few! I was so happy!!! So sufficiently filled to burst we headed towards the back of the castle to look at the mosaics but they had it closed off so we headed down the side of the castle and decided to watch the parade from the walkway, we were in by some seats so not blocking the path or anything we actually had a pretty good view we were just happy we saw it!

Once the crowds cleared a bit we walked down and headed to the Liberty Belle as promised we had a bit time before the next boat so we sat and had 5 mins, I wrote some notes! Soon it was time to board and we stayed on the middle deck at the front with a seat was perfect everyone really enjoyed it and it was nice to ease the pace down.

We headed out of the park after this and me and auntie went for a swim which was lovely after walking around! We decided to get showered etc. and head down to downtown Disney as we wanted to cash in our voucher for the $200 gift card so we had it; we got the boat down which auntie and uncle loved!

It was sooooooo busy you couldn't move! We headed into World of Disney store and as much as I love it, its just too big to look for anything in there! Auntie and uncle went browsing while we went for the voucher; there was a query in front of us which seemed to take ages to sort out then eventually when it was our turn even though I had everything I needed (voucher, ID etc.) its seemed to take ages! We eventually got it and went for a little look around but it was so busy (and my feet were hurting!) so we headed back for the boat, we went to riverside mill and filled our mugs up, I also got make your own pasta (you will notice a theme!) and headed back to the room

Awesome, glad you guys had a great time, but was puzzled by you guys not having a kettle in the room, for coffee or tea? No microwave? Shock

btw, the picture you took just before takeoff, the weather looks miserable yuck , hope you were greeted at Florida by clear skies and a warm breeze.

Looking forward to seeing more of your pictures and hearing about your adventures at WDW mickey

no we don't have a kettle just the coffee maker we just have a room rather than staying DVC and having a studio etc it never bothers us we just walk over to the main building but auntie and uncle didn't realise, it was very much a none issue I think it was tiredness that made it seem worse!!!

the weather was awful!!! usually its you know just cloudy but it poured down!!! we were hit with the sun and decided I wouldn't bother coming back, unfortunately someone forced me on the plane home!

thank you hopefully shouldn't be too much delay on getting it up and running I'm actually quite organised!!!

Small World was your auntie and uncle's favorite of the day Cool ?! They'll outgrow it biggrin I haven't been on that ride since my kids were in their teens Laughing out loud .

Did you guys have time to explore any of the resorts on the monorail route, they are an attraction on their own right mickey

Disney is expanding, so hopefully the next time the crowds will be smaller. yeah

Greetings from sunny Florida beach

Great TR so far yay We flew on Barbarella as well awesome I was confused at the gate because I was used to them calling a few seat numbers at a time, but this time we literally walked straight onto the plane as soon as passports etc had been checked confused

What are the chances of getting Mr Hub and Scrappy in photo without realising it? Must be a million to one!

Looking forward to reading more
