Thanks for the very warm and fuzzy reception! muchlove

Hubby and I stayed at the Contemporary for the very first time! He stayed at the Poly with his family as a teenager, but yours truly didn't even start making trips until college. (Well, my family was there in 1980, but we stayed off-site and sister and I were only 3, so does it really count?) This was a "make-up" for the cancelled Cancun vacation for our 10th wedding anniversary back in 2010. At the time I was classified as a high-risk pregnancy and strongly advised NOT to leave the country, so he nixed the vacation and refused to even entertain any other possibilities. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper about this. Fast-forward two years, and I'm pregnant again, but this time Mr. Worries-About-Everything agreed to a long weekend at WDW, and even agreed we could splurge on a MK-view room! (Yes, I did a little victory dance after that discussion!) Peanut, our 19-month-old daughter, stayed with her grandparents so Daddy and Mommy could enjoy one last grown-up getaway before Munchkin, her baby brother, arrives in February. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to sleep past 7 AM, have hot meals together, and take our time exploring the resorts and parks. I'm normally a run-all-day-and-see-it-all kind of park hopper, but being 24 weeks pregnant I had to slow it down this time, and even willingly headed back to our room for afternoon naps. We visited attractions we usually skip, enjoyed the Halloween decorations (although we did have to skip the party, couldn't justify the extra cost at the time), and did lots of people watching.

The only problem with the whole trip was the arrival of Hurricane Sandy at home. We're from southwestern New Jersey, and we had hoped to make it home before the storm. All flights were cancelled, so all we could do was watch Sandy move up the coast and hope against a direct hit. We spent 2 extra days in Florida, worrying about everyone at home and wishing we were with our daughter, but we did get a good laugh listening to the locals say how cold it was while we were there. (Sunny, breezy and in the 60's and 70's - couldn't ask for better weather!) We had a few downed tree limbs and lots of leaves, but otherwise our immediate area was spared, as were our friends & family throughout Jersey. We're NEVER going to forget that vacation!!

SO HAPPY to hear your house and neighborhood was spared, NJMommy. What a devastating storm that was! Glad the first leg of your trip was relaxing and worry-free!
