Fort Wilderness Cabins vs. AOA Suites

Has anyone stayed in the Fort Wilderness Cabins?

We're planning a trip for 4 adults (2 parents + 2 grandparents) and 2 children, and wondering what the best option will be for us.

I like the idea of the AOA suites, because they're new, but am a little nervous because the only real "bed" is a full size...the other sleeping options are a fold out couch (for the parents) and a Murphy bed converted from a dining table for the kids.

I like the idea of the Ft. Wilderness Cabins because they're close to MK, and everyone gets a real "bed" (kids get bunks), but I've also heard that they're "glamorized mobile homes at a moderate hotel price."

Any thoughts, one way or the other??

Thanks so much for your help!!

I haven't stayed at the cabins or any family suites. I think (and someone correct me if I'm wrong), the suites have two bathrooms and the cabins only have one. That would be something I would consider when choosing between the two.

Yes, the Ft. Wilderness Cabins are glamorized mobile homes. They are fabulous if you want to feel like you're doing some high end camping. If that's what you're not looking for in a vacation though, AOA might be a better option.

I love Ft. Wilderness, it's an amazing resort, but it's not a hotel.

The FW cabins do have a couple of downsides. There is only one bathroom and there is no privacy.

We found that as the kids got older the downsides started to outweigh the upsides.

One bathroom is a downside. I guess it all depends on the resort atmosphere you are looking for. Fort Wilderness is an escape from the Disney icons, flash and fuss. We like it because of this. Also it is quiet and an individual cabin is more private than a room along a hallway. I guess it is all about what you want.

The privacy factor is why we went with AoA. Based on pictures of the suites, it is almost 3 separate areas for sleeping which is what we want.

FANTASTIC info, everybody. This is the kind of info I was looking for. I think the 1 bathroom may seal the deal...we may be headed towards AoA. I'm the type who wants to be there for rope drop, so I can't see the 6 of us cramming into 1 bathroom to get ready in the a.m.

Can anyone speak to the comfort level of the murphy and fold-out beds at AoA??

I don't know the regular price you might pay for the AoA suit but the cabins a pricey. At least that's the way it seems to me. Making 4 trips to Disney a year, as Jan and I did, you have to be cost concious.
