F&W Festival..Grab A Passport..Let's Go..

Good Morning All....I read today that you can get a F&W passport so you can note down the food & drinks at each country. I also read that some of the portions are quite large so beware you stuff yourself too much that after your third country, it's time to call it a day..Is there a strategy out there that you can share.?...I've noted down ( and laminated ) all the participation countries and what we are hoping to try out..Do you F&W professionals have a plan noted down..? awesome

I prioritized items by color (highlighted in Green was Must Try, Yellow was would like to try) and then DH and I shared pretty much everything we got so that we could have room to sample more. I never encountered a plate being too large, I usually was wishing for a second portion! laugh

To be able to eat our way around the world at Flower and Garden, my family would get one dish (OK, sometimes 2), and everyone would get a bite. Some, we were sorry we only got one (those we went back for on return trips over the next couple of days), and a few we were very happy we were all sharing, so there wasn't so much of it.

We visit the Food and Wine Festival several times during the week and substitute grazing at the booths for several meals.

I also color-code a list of things I want to try so I can have the best dishes first and work my way down to the ones that are merely interesting.

We alternate the direction we travel around the World Showcase, sometimes traveling clockwise, sometimes counterclockwise. Other times we'll head straight to the back of the park to make sure we don't miss the stuff back there.

Unless we know we love something (tuna poke!), hubby and I will share an item to start, and if we really love it we'll get it again on a later visit.

This is our plan of attack!

Going to make a list and like you guys suggest prioritise what looks best. Thankfully I don't drink wine, but the beers and cocktails look good.....
By the looks of it I will miss out a couple of booths, my goal will be to make use of trying things I can't find anywhere else.

On the flip side to the wish lists has anyone seen a booth that they will be skipping? Or do you all have 1 thing from each?

To be honest I'll go with the flow..I'll Check my list..Check out the food..Apart from Germany and Poland ( not a fan of either countries cuisines ) The rest intrigues me..

We share meals but never beverages (we have our priorities) during F & W. We will share a taste of a beverage and if we really like a food type, we'll go back and get another portion. We usually get all of our stamps in about a day and a half. We note our faves and then go back and hit the highlights on our last day at Epcot.

We've done three meals at f&w so far on our stay. We're still in the splitting portions and sampling phase. We do 4-5 pavilions for each meal and usually get one thing to try at each.

I know for sure that I will be back for more of the scallops in Scotland, the Greek cheese in Greece, and the ghiradelli drinking chocolate at the festival center. I might have some more beef in France and another lobster Alfredo in USA as well.

I have to ask because I've been going back and forth on it.. how is the spinach gratin with the scallop? I'm not a huge fan of overwhelming spinach flavor but if its masked by other flavors, mainly cheese and garlic, I'm okay.. So is this a situation where the spinach is more of an accent to the other flavors or is it overwhelmingly spinach-y?

I need to ask the opposite question about the spinach gratin. I love spinach but I don't like cheese. So if the gratin tastes mostly of spinach and garlic, I'll like it. If there's more than just a hint of cheese, I'll have to pass on this one.

And alicemouse, I love your approach to F&W. Skip regular meals, graze the booths, try as much as you can. That's what we're going to do next month.

"Please put the spinach in one corner, the cheese in another corner, and then cut the scallop in half." Bet they'd love that request.
