Grand Floridian Pool Closing.

Reports are out there that the main courtyard pool will be closing August 24 and reopening in December 2012. During this time the pool will be rebuilt to include a zero-entry configuration. The beach pool will remain open during the work. The Tikiman reports during this time the Polynesian pool will be open to GF guests.

Lots of construction going on at the Grand Floridian this summer. I'm kinda glad that I'm not staying there in the near future. AllEars is reporting refurbs on three of it's restaurants as well! I suppose they're getting everything upgraded for when the DVC buildings are opened and there's suddenly a greater number of guests using the property.

More than likely, then the Poly will be next, although they are already renovating the Longhouses at the Poly, so I can't see them really tearing any down after doing that, even if they are talking of building a DVC building there, and they will have to, to go DVC.

They turned regular AKL rooms into DVC rooms, so they could probably do it to a couple long houses as well. Though I would think that the number of rooms would be too limited. I'm still not sure what I think about the AKL at the Poly plan, part of me doesn't want DVC at every property. Though I'm sure I'd try and switch to the Poly at 7 months every time I had the chance. LOL

Yeah I don't think they would take any of the Longhouses for DVC, like you said, that would severely limit the rooms then. I actually think they will be doing something along the lines of the original resort idea. I sort of have a good feeling about this. I think that would be pretty cool.

Ooooo... where is that picture from? Is that from the original Design? Totally feels like Waikiki.

Pretty cool huh? Yes that is one of the original test drawing. Here is another, I could really get into either one of these.

Just think, we could get another rooftop restaurant out of this too. Could you imagine Ohana's up there!
A front on view of the MK from that high up. Maybe put an observation deck out there but alittle lower then the windows of the restaurant so people on the deck do not obstruct the view.

Love the idea of another rooftop restaurant and observation deck! Ya know, I don't tink I had really been able to picture anything going there, but I'm okay with these. They're kinda cool.
