Group activities on a loosely chaperoned trip...

OK, this is just hypothetical, but I thought it might be fun.

Suppose you have a group of liked minded folks (like the WDW for grownups bunch), who are planning a trip to WDW together at the same time. I'm am NOT a fan of overly chaperoned trips, and since this group is pretty astute at what goes on and what they want to do as individuals, I was trying to think of just a few "group activities" that could be interspersed over a several day period so that you would have the "group activity feel", without having to overdo the group experience.

Our last DCL trip, we had a get together with the thread from DISBoards people as soon as we were all on the ship, then a separate meet up in one of the bars before dinner one night.

To start this, I'd throw out the dessert party that you can have at Epcot as a group while watching Illuminations.

Any ideas?

Sharing an Illuminations or Wishes Cruise (or the Grand 1).

Meeting on the beach at the Poly for Wishes, then getting Dole Whips from Captain Cook's.

Gathering for an Animal Kingdom Picnic in the Park.

Taking a backstage tour together (can you "rent those out"?)

Doing a Monorail Crawl

Is that use of the monorail to hit the various bars in the hotels on it?

(Even if it isn't, I LIKE that idea!!!)

Bali, I would so join you on that Monorail Crawl!

I think dinner at Ohana would be fun for a large group. Lapu Lapus all around. awesome

One DIS meet I was part fo many moons ago entailed a night of serious lobby sitting at WL. We were up gabbing & laughing so late, the cleaning crew had to work around us. So I would say Lobby sitting would be another good group meet.

Along that vein, some Hot Tub sitting would be good too - I think Coronado Springs has the largest one - it seats 20+ people.

There should also be some sort of photo op - like by the Walt & Mickey statue in the Hub or something.

The Monorail Crawl is particularly great if you're staying at a Monorail hotel cause then you don't even have to worry about getting yourself home.

That's exactly what it is! You start at one end and hit Outer Rim Lounge, Tambu Lounge, and...oh, shoot, I forgot the name of the lounge at Grand Floridian. Anyway, you get the idea! clapping

Also, MT, the WL and AKL have lots of tours/activities--it might be fun to participate in one of those (and they're usually free...)

All right! Monorail Crawl idea is gaining some interest!

Also like the idea of a photo op.

Monorail crawl is great too because people won't have to spend any money if they don't want to, but they can still participate.

That's true. And even if you have non-drinkers, they can still participate. Smile

eek rolling Isn't it amazing what we can come up with when we work together?!?

I did a fan meet at 'Ohana once--we got one of the long tables. It was a great experience--really enjoyable.

Oh--did someone mention Jellyrolls? That's a great meet up.

MT can be the conductor who makes sure we all move along at the right pace. In exchange someone has to buy him a beer at each stop.

I vote MT as the "designated monorail pilot" for the evening.

Only if I can get one of those spiffy "monorail caps" that were deemed as the 'look of the future' back in the early 60's and haven't changed since then!

Do I recall there's a monorail pilot you got to know pretty well back in the day, MT? Maybe she has a cap you can borrow! laugh

To be fair, it IS decades in the future and monorail pilots still wear that cap, so I guess they WERE futuristic.
