Group TShirts: Yay or Nay?

I'm always amused by the fun and creative Tshirts that families and groups wear while touring, but I've never really done them for my own family. I make sure that we coordinate for pictures, but we never actually match.

What do you think about designing shirts for your trips to have everyone wear? Is it cool or crazy?

I think it's a little cooky. I certainly wouldn't like it if my family was doing it, let's put it that way!

We actully did do this for our two park days at Universal last March. We had a group of 14 ( 4 different families) and on one day we had tied died purple T-shirts. ( Purple is our kids school color) The other day we all wore Wisconsin Badger shirts. Both days we were able to look through crowds and see where people in our group were alot easier. We got so many compliments and questions about them and we really had fun with it.

Yeah I think if you're in a group of 10+, it's not a bad idea at all. Like you said, it's easy to spot people, especially if you chose to use a bright color. But if I'm just with family, I want to chose what I wear! And also, I think one day is ok, but not every day.

We had a MS walk a few month back and had matching shirts for our team. The cost wasnt bad and they were fun to design. It ended up costing us about 10bucks a piece with a 15$ set up fee.

I think it's a good idea, in fact I am still hoping for a WDWFG "official" t-shirt. cool

Since I am not really creative enough to design t-shirts; I buy similarly themed shirts for us from the Disney Store. For example we might all wear Perry shirts one day and Mickey shirts another. This way I can remember what my kids are wearing if we got separated and its easier to pick each other out.

When we went with the family a few years ago, I had shirts made for all of us, even a little onsie for the baby. We only wore them to dinner one night when we were going to the Hoop Dee Doo. It was a fun thing to do and the pictures are cute. We also got a lot of comments about them on the boat ride over.

I really like the idea. But it's usually just me and hubby, or the two of us and two good friends. All close to 50 years old or well past. And hubby wouldn't like it, and the woman in the couple we travel with wouldn't like it, and the man in the...heck, I am the only one who would think it was cool, so it ain't gonna happen.

I think it would be fun if going with a large group.

I agree it would work with a large group - that way you won't lose sight of each other.

The problem is the cost to get them set up for print and all. It's been looked into.

I personally think its sweet to see a family with matching shirts. My sister is 10 and she just wants to look like an adult so for her to wear a shirt like me and my mom is going to be like christmas to her. I can already hear her now "do you think people think I'm a grown up" laugh She is a mess. I actually started working on our matching shirts a few days ago.

i have a friend that works at a staples and says they can do shirts pretty cheap, if somebody wants to email me a design idea i will have him look into it. There may not be any set up charge

Nicole - that shirt is so cute. I still don't know how you are keeping the secret AND making matching shirts!

And now I will be on the lookout for 3 "grown-ups" wearing that shirt, since we will be there at the same time. laugh

I think it's really cute when families wear matching shirts! We're going with close friends next trip and we've bought matching tees for the girls and for the boys to wear one day, it makes some great pictures!

We did it for our grand gathering in 2008 and again in 2011 for our family's Disney cruise. I am pro-group shirts.

I just ordered group t-shirts for a group of 45 meeting at Disneyland later this month. I was able to get them for $7.50 each at a local print company. Another item to be checked off on my Disney bucket list Wink

Absolutely!

I put together a custom image and had them printed up for a two-family group trip. We combined our last names and whipped up a logo. If there is room in the budget it is something fun to do.

We are going to Disneyland for my son's 5th birthday in January. About 4 days. Everyone is invited, and so far I know at least 4 more adults and 2 kids besides our unit is coming, maybe more. I've been thinking it would be fun to design a shirt for everyone to wear on his birthday. I think it would make the day more memorable, and having all his peeps wearing a shirt with his name on it is something that would impress a 5 yo.

But, I don't expect people to wear it the whole time, nor would I want to. Also, I hate wearing a unisex shirt, it's nice if the women can have fitted T's.

I have to admit, large tour groups at the parks just annoy me. inevitably just about every member of those groups stand at counter service or guest services when clearly only the ones actually paying and some helpers is all that's needed. Unfortunately when I see families wearing the same shirt, I get the same sense of dread at first glance, then I realize it's a family and I don't mind so much. Not to say that you wouldn't catch my husband and I coordinating our park attire. We coordinate our lanyards as well. So, I'm not completely opposed to the family coordination especially when it's done in an unique way.
