Halloween at WDW

Morning everyone!
I have a few questions about our trip that we have planned for October. We were there last year during the same time and did attend MNSSHP. This year we are not going because DH did not really want to even go back to Disney this year, so I am trying not to add to many additional things on. So my two main questions are:

1) I have heard that the MK is the place to be on the days of the party because the crowds tend to be a bit lower earlier in the day. We have a hopper, so I was thinking MK during the day and then onto somewhere else if this is the case. Has anyone ever experienced this?

2) Is there any special things to do on actual Halloween? My little one is 9 and still loves to go trick or treating (though I am sure being in Disney supersedes that!) I know Downtown Disney used to have candy and all that, but I know that has been eliminated. We left last year the morning of Halloween, so I am not sure if they had anything at POP for the kids..or the kids at heart!

Thanks! mickey

We went down in late September the last few years and have attended MNSSHP twice. We're down there this year on Halloween instead, so it'll be our first time running around there on the day as well!!!

In our experience going to MK the day of one of the parties was excellent. It's never quiet there, but it wasn't a nightmare trying to get around the park - and wait times were reduced by a bit. We then also used our hopper option to go to dinner and catch the fireworks at a different park. It seemed to work really well - and if you leave a bit before the party starts then you miss fighting the crowds on the way out.

I'm not sure about your second question - it'll be our first time as well!! We're not doing the MNSSHP on Halloween either... Mostly because we're not masochists. So if anyone has some insight I would also find it very helpful! Smile

Now that Disney has released the dates of the party, I can really start putting together some ideas. I am still trying to figure out what to do Halloween evening, but I am going to call Pop as we get closer and see if they have anything planned.

There used to be trick-or-treating on Halloween at Downtown Disney, however they canceled it last year. I'm not sure if that was just because of all the construction or if that will be the norm from here on out. Aside from the party any localized special events won't be announced until probably September. There will of course be lots of Halloween themed treats at the bakeries and Main Street will be decked out in its Fall finery. I usually hop over to the Magic Kingdom for the party instead of away from it, but I have also heard that the day time crowds are lighter on party nights.
